Saban is not returning to the NFL. If he leaves Bama it will be for retirement.

he has been out of the NFL for 9 years now. hated it when he was there. majority of his career is in college. has a pretty good thing going at Bama.

for those of you that are 60+ years old and still working... Would you leave your current job that you are...
...very successful at...making very very good money/most ever in your position...with a great life work balance...

to go work in a posiiton with longer hours...in a new city, with a idfferent type of scurtiny...with a completely different type of managment structure...and employees(rich 20 year olds) to work with...

this is not rocket science yall... he is staying.

The earlier post bout all this coming from Finebaum's mouth is 100% correct. Mike & Mike did not start this discussion. And all Finebaum does is stir up shite to make his bama network show better by getting his idiots to call in more. And I do laugh at all the bama ranters here claiming that Saban is not motivated by money. Agree that he has more than enough, especially when factoring in the cost of living in N.Y vs Alabama, but it's not a coincidence that every time this comes up, he gets a raise. Sexton uses this leverage to maximum advantage every time this happens every year. Nothing wrong with that approach at all but to claim money does not matter to Saban is ridiculous.

People evidently don't understand the entire family dynamic. He just moved his 85 year old mom to Bham a year or two ago. His kids live in Bham with their families (including Saban's grandchild). They work in Bham (including his son at a car dealership Saban owns that includes Saban's image in the advertising). Leaving would impact THAT business, which he sees as his true retirement income. He also is working to get a second dealership within his contracted coverage area.

It's hilarious that "Joe Fan" thinks they understand anything about these coach's personal lives.

This information isn't coming from Joe Fan, this information is coming from his friends. Believe it or not, there are people out there who understand and know the man better than the LSU fan base.

Of course it is possible he is lying to these people whom he calls his friends, but they claim he hasn't even entertained the possibility of seeking out another job.

I'm sure there's a copy of Saban's diary running around all the social clubs in Tuscaloosa.

particularly if he thinks a good run in the pros is the missing link to his legacy

I think if he was worried about leaving a mark in the pros he would have left years ago. He's no spring chicken.

Bear Bryant is recognized by most as the greatest college coach of all time based on the number of NCs he won. If Bama wins Monday night, Saban will be one NC away from tying Bryant's record of six. With the state of Bama's program, it's reasonable to say he's got a chance to not only tie the record but break it. That would be the legacy I'd be shooting for.

If Bama loses to Clemson, that could make it interesting but I'd still be shocked if Saban left for another job at this stage in his career.

Hell, if he didn't, Sexton wouldn't be earning his money. I'm saying this from a similar life experience...if you're well past 60 years old, have busted your arse, was good at what you did, and endured much pressure during your professional life to achieve a very comfortable lifestyle and the security it brings, although you may briefly entertain an extravagant offer (more out of flattery ), your bettor judgement will kick in and bring you back to reality.
Bottomline is that a smart man knows when he's at his "sweet spot" in life and learns to live with it.

He is a friend to some of my relatives and from day one they said he would go to bama stay 5-6 years max and win 2-3 championships. That is before he stepped off the freaking plane. He has already stayed longer than anyone that really knows him thought he would. Bama will then hire Dabo, win or lose the NC. So they will not fall far unfortunately.

1) I doubt that Saban, himself, would have been able to make that prediction.
2) Alabama won't hire Dabo Sweeney regardless of who wins the nat'l championship.
3) refer to my previous post.

Leaving after the title game win or lose. How often have these guys been wrong about Saban? Golic called him a disaster in the pros because he never had a stud QB. But the NYG could be a leading candidate. IOW Bama fans, take this time to formulate your thoughts and farewells because..... He gone!

I listened to the entire show this morning and this wasn't remotely close to what they said.

They asked Pawl and he said it was unlikely and all they said was he wasn't necessarily too old but if he was going to make a run at it, it needed to happen now.

Plus I think your figure of Saban making more than 70% of Alabamans is a tad off course.

I think he meant 70% of Alabamans combined.

It was remotely said because you didn't start listening to it until after I did. And Mike and Mike clearly were gearing the segment with Finebaum and trying to push his buttons about Saban's next move. That's a damn fact.

Sounds like Clevelands problem, since he went there last year after leaving Texas.

If you listened to the whole segment and that's what you got out of it, you must really want to hear that.

No, no. I had to get to work before Finebaum came on the air. But the teasers heading up to that point were started by the Mikes. I know they like to lead people on about their topics, but I also know how the sheeple hang on every word about Saban.
