Why would he leave Bama? He doesn't like a salary cap because he can't out talent people. It's too difficult for him. He's stated as much.

Leaving would be throwing away 10K/month for life which is some nice discretionary cash in retirement.

Yes, that sounds like a lot to you and me... But not him. he makes $10,000 a day and doesn't need some state back up plan. Transferring to a new gig that would give him $8-10 million a year is a little better than 10k a month for life. After taxes it's about 6,500. I wouldn't stay in Bama for $6500 a month for life.

So he doesn't make more than 95% of Alabamans? Wow then he is poor compared to all the Hollywood types living down there on the Gulf Coast huh? Enlighten us with your infinite wisdom Corch Crisp. Another poster claimed he made more than 99.99% of Alabamans. Who is closer to the truth?

The only way his comment would even remotely make sense is if he thought you were saying that Saban made more than 95% of Alabamans combined. If that's the case then we need to switch into lack of comprehension for him.

So we got 2 dumb bastards on the same thread. If either of you had the sense of a fricking brick you'd know that Saban's 8-10 mil per year earnings would probably put him over the 99.99% of wage earners in the country, and even more in Alabama. You children really shouldn't try to talk about something that you know nothing about.

he has one more year to be fully vested in the state retirement system. I am not sure any sane person would leave that after year 9

I'm fairly certain this has no bearing on what Saban does in his life. Steele is a different animal because of the huge money gap. If Saban leaves it will be for a contract over $7 million per year for the next 4-5 years. Alabama state retirement isn't on his radar.

With that said. He isn't going anywhere.

It's not about the money. It's about the legacy. Saban has more money than he can spend now so you can't buy him. He has a chance to compete with the Bear for the top spot in the history of CFB. At his point in life legacy becomes your drive not money.

He wins the NC and he will more than likely be in the $9,000,000 bracket at Bama.

Isn't he already the top of CFB lifetime?

Legacy wise currently best college coach that couldn't get it done in the top league

An NFL team could put him in the $10 million bracket. The point is it's not about money with Saban. He may be chasing Bear. He may have an itch to prove he can cut it in the NFL. Who really knows? I just don't think he liked the NFL very much as a head coach.

Okay Corch. That's all we needed to know. But don't scold the other guy for the figure of 70%. Who is the real dumbass here? According to your math, he was much closer to Saban's earnings even though he was well short of the other two figures. Go away, class dismissed

Bryant has 6 NCs and 14 SECs. Saban probably can't touch his SEC record but he has a chance to have 7 NCs. That might not be broken again for a 100 years. If we win Monday he has a real shot at it.

then why call out the 2nd person who was much closer to being accurate instead of the idiot who said 70%? i really think you're completely changing directions on your argument because you know you were wrong. that's ok, it happens to the best of us so i'm sure it happens to the worst as well.

He already has a contract for another 4 years paying him more than that. The only time in his career he's left one job to make less money at another job was leaving the Dolphins ($5M/year) for Bama ($4M/year). Doubt he does that again.

People evidently don't understand the entire family dynamic. He just moved his 85 year old mom to Bham a year or two ago. His kids live in Bham with their families (including Saban's grandchild). They work in Bham (including his son at a car dealership Saban owns that includes Saban's image in the advertising). Leaving would impact THAT business, which he sees as his true retirement income. He also is working to get a second dealership within his contracted coverage area.

Saban gets raise. Saban doesn't leave.

Totally agree, but you got to realize that most of the folks on this board can't fathom this.

He gone and don't care about being vested in alabama retirement system. $10 million per year for the Tennessee Titans. No state income tax and close to his family in Alabama. LONG GONE
