While I agree, Reid alone has been the best DB Bama will have faced to this point.

t's a completely different team. A&M is not deep on defense, Bama has the depth in the front 7 to not wear down late in the game. Why can't you grasp that?
Let me spell it out for you, Gerry, at A&M was the first time this year I've seen Ware in the Wildcat. I predict some option vs Bama with Ware at QB.
Ware will provide the dimension that JJ gave LSU last year in Tuscaloosa.

Running the wildcat from under center? GTFO. I know Jefferson wasn't a huge threat to pass against Bama last year, but is Ware even a remote threat to throw?
You're grasping at straws here. I will say it again, LSU will NOT beat Alabama with less than 100 yards passing.

He was a QB in HS.......

He played QB in high school.

Why did they have Ware at QB for A&M?

They did it last year against a better Bama defense.

It should be a good game.
Although grass has been a sore subject around here for the past week or so, Miles just seems to do a better job on his home pasture.
Again, it should be a good game.

Just like it's been every game since Flynn left.
Seriously though, LSU's defense every single year except 2008 has been winning games with almost no offensive support. I've been a fan of a school where our offenses are so bad that the defenses fold under the pressure, so I gain a lot of respect for LSUs defense from that fact alone.

Their offense is better this year. LSU is going to need a little more from the offense this go round.

I agree. Ive been really impressed with Reid since his freshman year. But the Bama offense spreads the ball around so much it will be hard for Reid to have a huge impact on the passing game. He cant be everywhere at once. Is LSU comfortable enough with any of their corners to go man to man with the Bama WRs? Claiborne was able to take away almost one whole side of the field. i havent seen any of the LSU corners playing on Claiborne's level

Mett has talent but the $64 question is will have time to throw and does he have receivers who can get open and make plays? Zach is a pure pocket passer; he doesn't have a lot of mobility. I can't imagine that he will have a lot of time to survey the field so he will need to make quick precise passes. If I was Bama I would play tight coverage and blitz early and often.

Which has absolutely ZERO to do with how LSU's offense will do against Bama's defense.

So did Russell Sheppard.. and he still hasn't thrown a pass at LSU.

To run the wild cat. Not to pass the ball.

They also got annihilated in the 2nd game. Alabama learned and changed their formula from the first game to the second game. LSU can't expect to do the same thing they did in the first game last season to win this game.

Oh but it does. LSU gets down and has to pass to win, and the offense on the other sideline put us in that position. It's a key in the question of "how many points does LSU need to win?"

Oh, I thought the topic was, "Mettenberger has potential to win game for LSU" and all I was saying was that I expect there to be two QBs playing for LSU, and the one not named Zach could be the difference maker.
...But then again, he may not.

It's what the convo has gotten to dude. I personally doubt Ware is going to matter in the passing game, at all, but I'd rather you be right and LSU win.

In other words, none of those scoring drives ended in the red-zone?

You just discounted yourself from any credence folks might put in your opinions re: LSU. At least most folks are gonna ask about sh!t instead of making it up.
Reid is an All-American caliber defender. The problem is he's had a sternum injury the past few games. Now, he had a pick against USCE. He also should've had one against A&M. But he's had some bad penalties, taken some really poor angles, and given up some TD's on busted plays as a result this year.
He's taken a step back from last year. That you'd ignore the play of Micah Eugene, Ronnie Martin & Jalen Mills and go straight to Reid lets most folks who follow LSU know you have absolutely zero idea of what you're discussing when it comes to LSU's Secondary, defense as a whole, and pretty much any kind of comparison of these two teams.
But you tried real hard, though
