The Memphis Tigers will host Mississippi State in 2028 and visit the Bulldogs in 2029 in a new home-and-home series.
The Tigers announced the games Thursday.
Memphis already was scheduled to host Mississippi State in 2021 and visit the Bulldogs in Starkville in 2022. Memphis and Mississippi State haven't played each other since 2011. The Tigers' last win over Mississippi State was in 1993 with a 45-35 upset of the then-No. 23 Bulldogs.
The Tigers finished last season ranked 17th after reaching the Cotton Bowl.

A fun match-up here, between one of the best in the Group of Five and a respectable mid-tier SEC outfit.
Oof.

The last time I went to a State-Memphis football game was one of Jackie Sherrills last years coaching. Every time State crossed the 50, there was one fan screaming "KICK THE FIELD GOAL! KICK THE FIELD GOAL!"

about as much as a needle mover as Mizz/Kansas.
I'd rather trim my nose hair in the dark with a blowtorch than watch these two games.

Any guesses on the next big home and home announcement from State?
McNeese State, maybe?

The Liberty Bowl is both the hottest and the coldest stadium in America. It is impossible to watch a game comfortably from that stadium.

Hottest: see 2000 State/Memphis season opener
Coldest: see 2007 Liberty Bowl State vs UCF

One of their greatest games was in 1974 when Memphis lost to Miss State.....28 - 29

I think they split the series. Memphis will give the cow bell ringing pie faced country bumpkins all they can handle.

What’s the deal with State doing home and homes with G5 programs? They traveled to Louisiana Tech a few years ago. Last year they played Louisiana at the super dome in what basically was a home and home.
Didn’t Mizzou loss at Wyoming last season too?

No you must be confused. That certainly didn’t happen. Must be another team. Because it definitely wasn’t Missouri.

i'd have to go with 2017 Memphis vs UCLA for the hottest. They actually ran out of water at the concessions.
It. was. brutal.

But at least Mississippi State hasn't lost to Memphis since 1993.
