It's more my experience in person. I had an auburn grad tell me that Alabama will give you a scholarship for almost anything and that he turned down a full ride at Bama because "he put too high a value on his education."

Our alumni don't tend to send their kids to State.

If I had a kid I wouldn't want them to spend four years of their lives in a dump like Starkville either.

That is much higher than I thought it would be. The median income for the population is around 61k

Is that with a degree or not? Most kids in college had parents that went to college (certainly not all, but parent education level is one of the biggest determiners of academic success). So this is at least a little selection bias when compared to the general population. It is really useful for comparing between schools urban enrollment though.

I can all but guarantee our Texas OOS enrollment income is significantly higher than our in-state. In-state lottery scholarships probably exaggerated that significantly as well.

Is this why barners seem to be uppity assholes?

If I had a dollar for every single time I saw an Aggie compensate for the lack of on-the-field success with something related to how rich A&M is I'd be as wealthy as one of the oil money A&M boosters.

Starkville sucks if you are not in college...I have always agreed with that. But so do most of the SEC towns. These are college towns. You go do drugs and get drunk for four years. Do any sane people really want to live in College Station or Tuscaloosa after they get out of college?

You don't hear too many people say I can't decide where I want to move next...Seattle, Denver or Auburn.

Atlanta families who can afford AU out of state tuition explain a lot in AU's numbers.

Hate to say it but it's the truth. Maybe that's why Athens is such a shithole.

Probably not but I've gotta say Auburn is a pretty nice place to live in general. Crime is almost non-existent, an hour from ATL, three hours from the beach, clean city/campus, and it doesn't feel overcrowded although the city of Auburn is trying its best to ruin downtown with those fricking awful high-rise apartment buildings.

If you can get to Atlanta from Auburn in an hour flat I am genuinely impressed.

Speed limit on I-85 is 70 so I can make it to the airport in an hour going about 80-85. Also GSP seems to patrol 400 exclusively so that makes it easier.

It’s really not. There’s some really nice neighborhoods there. Not a ton to do outside attending AU athletic events, but there’s some serious money there.

You can eat at that nasty arse Momma Goldbergs chain

Putting cheese on doritos and calling them nachos

(This is the only Auburn eating establishment I am familiar with and that's only because they have (had?) them in Atlanta...I am sure there are decent places to eat)

That really is funny. If you want to be a vet, go to Auburn, if you want to be a doctor, go to Alabama

Worst part about Auburn is the absence of any decent restaurants outside of Acre, but Acre is expensive as frick.

Probably little inflated by a large upswing in out of state enrollments recently.

Think Alabama is heading to 70% OOS students. It's not a bad thing, though. The state is 50th out of Five-Oh in education. So for an entire state not even the size of Houston, Dallas, or Atlanta, the odds of it producing enough qualified individuals to get-in, but more importantly, graduate and make a name for themselves in the professional ranks, is prettay prettay low. Buy stock in AU and Alabama as universities, sell the state of Alabama like Lehman Brothers in August 2008.

I'm sure. There's plenty of money and nice areas around Hattiesburg, but everybody associates it with USM

The MSU general area is fine. I could live out at Waverly and a few other places, but I'm not moving to the Starkville city limits
