Smitty said all the right things. But you're naive if you believe that. He was overshadowed in a crowded group. He came back to shine, and improve his draft stock, and he did both.

This Bammer gets it

Meh Smith only had a small part in winning the 2017 title.

He had what, like 7 catches that year?

Aluhbumma fans hate the fact that all of the NFL insiders still have Chase over Smith

Truthfully, I could give a shite less about
Chase and when he's picked. I'm proud of Smith
and his accomplishments. He worked hard
and they were richly deserved and he'll be rewarded
in the draft.
Hard to believe LSU fans have the same feelings
and pride for their quitter---but que sera sera.

I’m pretty sure that catching the winning touchdown is considered helping win a championship.

He made THE most important catch. And it ended the season. With a natty.

If he had done NOTHING else, my man writ his name in Crimson flame that night.

It's really not. The NFL, draft picks, etc mean more to them than what actually happens on the college football field.

At the end of the day, Bama is better at both, but we mostly care about the trophies our guys win at Bama.

And Smitty is a shining class act. I'm glad he wasn't a quitter.

Don’t be so sure. The NFL is more lenient in letting offensive players do what they want. I’ve seen plenty of worse push offs go uncalled in the NFL.

I have too from vets who have “earned” the ability to push off. Not from rookies. My point is chase relies on the push off. Likely because he’s too slow to create separate without it.

I mean Chase also helped his team win a national title, so...

they literally did and he literally didn’t. He won the heisman and a frickload of other awards and most likely played his way into a higher draft stock than chase who sat on his arse for a year

Huh?

Smith was nails this year but let’s not pretend like his draft grade was top 15 in 2020

There were two other Bama WRs claiming that spot

Chase might go first if the right team values his bigger build... depends on the team picking.

But it's hilarious how Chase didn't opt out until well into fall practice. Dude saw the Corndogs Flustercuck coming after being on the field a few days and then bailed LOL

Nah pretty much no matter what happens that year his stock wouid go down. It’s that simple. I don’t blame the guy one second. He’s one of the best to ever play the game. Won a natty in dominant fashion. Helped create the greatest team of all time. Won the Belit! Etc
He’s appreciated and deserving of getting picked first! He will be a great nfl receiver

Chase the quitter. If he really loved LSU, he would have played this past season.

Wait until the LSU fans see next year’s batch of Chase’s. Several players are watching his draft with interest. You idiots are missing the big picture here, and I cannot wait to see the responses on this board as a result

To be fair, if this really starts becoming a thing then it will affect anyone who has a really good returning junior, not just LSU.

Could you explain the "Etc"? I didn't see any other awards that Chase won except unanimous AA.

In the meantime, DeVonta won....
