That explains why you liked the analogy.

gated community
No. No one is comparing LSU’s program to a gated community home. You’re a “custom” mini mansion tear down in an unincorporated area. Owners who have much more money than taste and who would never buy a property where there’s an HOA.

Doesn't sound like he was just asking.
He said he wanted to stay and coach. They said no. He said if he leaves now, he'll have to start building a staff and as is customary in coaching changes, some staff would come with him and eventually players. They said whoever is leaving for LSU eventually, has to leave now. He relayed that to the coaches.

Some people simply don't know how to handle things like others in these kind of situations. Some drag it out and soak up the pub. Others just do it and move on.
He didn't make a final decision until after the Egg Bowl, which was the agreed upon plan with the Ole Miss AD. Also when all other coaches were hired in this conference as well. He spoke to Saban and Carroll and made the call. Then he had negotiations over continuing coaching the team, which lasted a day.
The media was just covering the shite out of this for weeks so it made it seem way worse. He declined to comment on it and kept his team focused and finished 11-1.
People need to take a step back and calm down. He didn't come out and say "only way he's leaving is in a pine box" or make a definitive statement like "I won't be the next coach at Alabama". He finished the regular season and then made the decision, as was planned and announced by his AD.

Strawman. No one has blamed LSU for offering him a job.
Not building a strawman, just showing there isn't always blame for something. This is just the business. If he left for Penn State or if Ole Miss wasn't going to the playoff, it would be 1/10th the story.
I'm saying all this as someone who doesn't really like Kiffin and have been on record on this board several times saying it might be a bad fit at LSU. People just want to be outraged these days about everything.
This job wasn't going to wait around for him because of the football calendar and it's a much better job.

Dude never coached a day in his life at any level. Stick to creaming your pants about Death Valley at night and leave the coaching to guys who have actually done it.

SVP can say what he wants, we’ll play the villain. Scott is considered honorary family around these parts.

Seems like an indictment of Tulane

Why should coaches have loyalty when players don’t. Money and opportunity buy loyalty.

Lane is going to do the retarded coonasses dirty within 5 years. It's going to be hilarious and glorious. In the meantime, LSU won't win a Natty and likely not even an SECC during Kiffin's tenure. Why would LSU fans expect anything better when Lane has never accomplished much.
