If Malik Nabors played for Texas Tech, Harrison would be this board's unanimous #1 WR prospect.

Jermaine Burton over Jameson Williams is crap

Do you mean coming out this year, or drafted the last 4 years?

He did say Treylon Burks should be used as a big slot and if Tennessee was gonna put him outside, he'd need years to develop to be good enough to be an X WR. Tennessee has tried to play him at X and that may be why he's been a disappointment, along with his health issues

So if Nabors played In a defense optional conference he wouldn’t be as highly regarded by this board? Is that your statement? No shite Sherlock. However, he played In the SEC and did it against some of the best DB’s In his 3 years being the featured WR never. He always had a stellar competition to get his.

He's been doing this for a long time. Everyone is wrong at one time or another. But if he's embarrassed about being wrong on MHJ, he can throw a big party for his fellow guys with him. It's not like saying MHJ is the best wr in this class is a strong take.

It's about route running and their ability to do well in the NFL. Burton doesn't exactly have a high bar to reach to prove he's better than Jameson in the NFL.

In fairness Williams wasn’t a polished receiver.
He was basically Forrest Gump who could outrun anyone on the field, but was an average at best route runner.
Speed is critical but it isn’t everything.
As for Burton I don’t see him as highly as Matt Harmon, but keep in mind Bryce Young was hurt most of his final season and couldn’t push the ball downfield and last year he had Milroe at QB which is an entirely separate and confusing thread.

Ranking them based on how he graded them on their college film before they went to the NFL. The Chase grade was made before he ever played an NFL down. Same with the other WRs on the list who are already in the NFL.

Ohio State with 4 of the top 10.
That's insane.

There are things that Burton does well.
But none of it jumps out as special to me in the NFL.
He is good at late separation.
He is average hands (average for NFL is very good, but he isn't making QBs better than they are).
I've seen him shake good CBs and I've seen him locked down by average CBs off the line. He can make a play.
But he isn't NFL special.

Eh.
Jermaine Burton looks really odd on that list. At no point in his college career was he a receiver who put fear in opponents. He has been a solid college WR, but at the same level as Jameson Williams? That's just silly.
He might be a solid NFL guy as well, but I'd put all of the last 4 SEC WR's on that list ahead of him. He's not a difference maker. He's just another solid WR.

He can't get open.
vs. man 19th percentile
vs. zone 62nd percentile
vs. press 19th percentile
compare that to Jermaine Burton
vs. man 86th percentile
vs. zone 46th percentile
vs. press 86th percentile
LaGette makes his living on contested catches and those don't translate well to the NFL most of the time.
2019 rookie WRs N'Keal Harry (pick 32 overall) and JJ Arcega-Whiteside (pick 57 overall) were contested catch kings who prospered in college. Where are they now?

Interesting.
I don't watch the NFL, but I would have placed a high value on contested catches (being that coverage is so much tighter in the nfl... bringing it in is the most important part).

The key is to make it not tight coverage.
Justin Jefferson's percentiles from his 2022 NFL season:
Man 96th
Zone 92nd
Press 98th
He doesn't do percentiles on double coverage as there are not enough WRs in the league that see it often enough to have a good sample size.
But Jefferson still gets open 63% of the time vs. double teams.

I'd rank the former UGA receivers close to the exact opposite.
Pickens
McConkey
Mitchell
Burton
