Noticed this camp. If Mateer is just avg then watch out. OU relied on defense last year and that side is even better. But a revamped offense with TE and RB room will be fun to watch. He doesn’t have to be best just move the chains and make the reads.

Football season is now starting to come into focus. Every team is undefeated.

NEW: 2026 Manning Passing Academy Standouts

I find it funny that a Manning didn’t place first.

Nice toss by Mateer

Where’s preseason heisman trophy winner and national champion Sam Leavitt?

I don’t know how to judge Mateer.

When he was healthy he would show flashes of Manziel level playmaking, but then he’d miss HS level throws or throw middle school level INTs.

He could win a Heisman if he develops but man he would’ve been frustrating to watch last year as an OU fan.

Same goes for Reed. If anyone can work with his skill set it’s Elko, but he’s the wild card IMO between them being a CFP contender or an 8-9 win team.

If your offense can find a running game, things will be way different for him this year. I’m sure he will make less stupid plays as a result.

Thing is Mateer was great until injury. He never got healthy either, but is now. Healthy Mateer can win the Heisman.

A QB playing with a broken bone on his throwing hand is crazy. I was rehabbing a broken femur at the time and I asked my pt about Mateer and she was like “there’s no way he should be playing right now” He’s a tough player.

You would just say he only got first because his last name is Manning.

Would be pretty impressive to be on that list if he wasn’t even in attendance. The idiotic obsessed posts are out of hand lol

MPA is not what it is cracked up to be.

It may be helpful for some of the high school QBs but most college level have access to better options.

quote:

This year, a record number of 1,300 campers are set to hone their skills at the four-day camp under the guidance of 120 coaches and 40 college quarterbacks.

4 days of that isn't going to make or break anyone.

I personally think Leavitt is better spending his time working on rehab and with Lane and Charlie and LSU's VR room than MPA or anything similar. But judging from the comments by the OM transfers about the "old computers" etc. OM wouldn't know much about that.

And for the record Sam turned down his invitation, thank you for your concern.

So good he didn't bother attending. Those throwing vs air have been impressive though.

The better question for me has always been, why don’t they hold this thing at OM?

I thought part of the Indiana story was that last off season the coach told Martinez he would be better off not attending the Manning crap and spend the summer learning the playbook instead.

Well I’m not saying he can’t be great, but I don’t agree with that assessment statistically:
OPP: RTG
ILL ST: 191
UM: 132
TEMP: 132
AU: 139

He was a 164 passer for Washington St against horrible competition.

Total wildcard for me, if he’s truly a top passer next year yall are a playoff contender, if he’s what he was last year I think making the playoffs again will be very tough.
