93 is a different animal. We were on probation and have no claim to that title at all

57 was probation and a bowl ban as well.

It's not like there was a real title to win to begin with. It was simply being named #1 by a bunch of writers that didn't even have the ability to watch most of the games. Looking back at that season now it's obvious that we have a better claim than anyone else. Not to mention the fact that several services did name us #1.

57 we got the AP title. 93 we didn't. Times were different back then.

AP and Coaches took Minn. but who cares.

I know. But everyone, including ESPN, Wikipedia and CBS recognize us having at least one title. I just don't get why some of your fanbase just can't accept it.

But it was the system that was in place back then. So we didn't win even though we should've.

LSU 1908 (recognized by NCAA)
If you are doing that, then count Auburn 1913, which is recognized by the NCAA.

I know you weren't.

And it's just nice to be able to say that we have at least one. I don't pull it out in an argument unless the whole "Ole Miss is the only west team to never get to Atlanta" argument starts.

I think he meant to say why didn't we get 1917 because we weren't even undefeated in 1918. I'm kinda surprised we don't claim 1917 since we were 10-0 and unscored upon that season.

No we claim 1919, which was also an undefeated and unscored upon season, and 1927.

Well 1917 has a strong position being that we were undefeated and unscored upon.
