Why are Bama fans acting like the 6th best recruiting class in the conference is suddenly going to catapult them to the top of the league?

I mean their most important addition by a need standpoint isn't included in the recruiting class. I don't think they are finishing top 3 but could see them in that 4-6 range.

Our best recruit doesn’t even count in the rankings

It isn't. But the combination of getting Herb (and possible Petty) back + hopefully not having 3-4 season-ending injuries + 2nd year in Oats system + an offensively gifted and mature big + a 5-star transfer PG that is clear to play + a decent recruiting class + tons of depth............

The hope is that will catapult us to making the NCAA Tournament, which has been at our fingertips every year for basically 20 years at this point.

I don't believe anyone was saying people were sleeping on Florida last pre-season

And I mean our roster for next season is pretty loaded. White will have a tough time finding ways to lose with it.

I'm not sure anyone is saying "top of the league," but in regards to making the tournament, Alabama was on pace to do so last season until the wheels fell off with injuries and an obvious lack of depth. If that team could do it, then it would stand to reason that talent recruited to run Oats' actual system could do that and more.

It's sort of sad for us that even making the tournament should be such a high bar, but hey, here we are. Gotta start somewhere.

The Longhorns are a 6 seed...

Lol, good joke, Lunardi. Even if Shaka lands Greg Brown, that Texas team is an 8 or 9 seed at best while Shaka Smart is the head coach.

Except for the little fact that we were picked top 10 preseason and were one of the favorites to make the F4.

They'll still be solid, but it would seem like much more of a transition year than any of the ones he has had yet since they got good a few years ago. Wouldn't shock me if they found a way into the tournament but I probably wouldn't predict it.

Talent wise were still a top 5 team in the conference. To not make the tournament with the in place roster would be a disappointment.

No it won't. Y'all have lost way too much. AU will be an NIT team.

I don't know how he could have UK seeded that high. We've lost 7 of our top 8 players and we only had 8. We have only Keion Brooks that has played a single minute for UK. Yes we have the number 1 recruiting class and Dontaie Allen returning from injury but I don't see a KAT or an AD or Cousins among them. We will be young and thin. Unrealistic expectations unless we get several transfers. I see about a 6 seed by the end of the season but we will take some lumps. I would make UT and UF the league favorites next season. I would also think that Auburn will be in the hunt along with LSU. It will be wide open.

Speaking of young guys and Auburn, what was the deal with Devan Cambridge this year?

Dude shoots about 70% from 3 twice, scores in the 20s twice, and then just disappears.

So inconsistent, which I think makes these early brackets so hard to predict. Hard to know how these young guys will actually play when they do get the minutes.

We had 6 guys that played a ton last year that didn't leave much for the other freshman. I expect Cambridge to break out a bit next year with increased minutes.

Making predictions when schools don’t even know who they will sign . Guess they get bored

He needs to rework his shot. He has a hitch that makes consistency impossible

Missing on Green today makes us a long shot to make the tournament. I'm not going to rule it out but it's going to take Pearl's best coaching job to overcome that much inexperience.

I don't get saying this when 95% of rosters are completed at this point

Outside of high-profile exceptions, guys you sign this late are unlikely to be difference makers.

And now that Green is a pro, I just can't predict Auburn as a tourney team next season. I guess we'll really get to test the theory that Pearl is a miracle worker.

I have Ole Miss that low but Kermit has quietly put together a solid team

Shuler
Joiner
Vaughn
Hinson/Buffen
Sy

Could surprise some people.
