Poor Dayton, they have basically the biggest reason to be upset over all of this.

Agree. I'm sure many feel burned by their Gator predictions last year and will be a bit more cautious. Should be a good team, this is a big year for White.

If Crutcher stays in the draft they will have lost their top 3 scorers and 4 of their 5 top scorers

Yea - to be honest, I can't imagine how heartbroken they must be. At least when you lose a heartbreaker you know you had the chance. This is just awful.

Why is Auburn protected not to make the tournament?

Because although they have a great class coming in, They lose 6 of their best players basically. Having said that, I think they should and will get listed if they pick up Green.

Samir Doughty - graduated (16.7 PPG)
J'Von McCormick - graduated (11.7 PPG)
Isaac Okoro - NBA (12.8 PPG)
Austin Wiley - graduated (10.6 PPG)
Danjel Purifoy - graduated (8.5 PPG)
Anfernee McLemore - graduated (6.8 PPG)

They lose their top 6 scorers and while they have some solid pieces returning none of them we're such more than minor role players last year (Johnson, Flanigan, Cambridge).

If they sign Green, like rockiee said, they'll definitely jump into that #9-12 seed range, I'd guess.

Pretty crazy that we would even consider a team still has a chance to make the tournament if they have roster turnover like this. I like their chances with Green though overall. Testament to Bruce's ability to reload and motivate.

You don't think they even have a chance with Green? Really?

But alot of "experts" will and I think there is merit to it when you consider the class and coach.

If they get Green I would guess they slide in

Green gives them a shot, but, even with him, their roster construction looks too much like Georgia's this season to predict them as a tournament team imo.

Having tournament expectations for them is purely about giving Pearl the benefit of the doubt, which is fair.

I think Dayton is a tournament team with Crutcher next season. This was their shot, though.

I mean that would be whole point though. There are not many coaches I would give this chance to outside of Pearl and maybe 5-10 more.

And while I get the UGA comparison by returning roster and recruiting class, Auburn's class by talent is still decently above UGA's class last year. With Green if you place Auburn's class in last years recruiting cycle. They are still 6 spots higher.

Without Green though, I'm right there with you.

Yea I generally agree with Gators re: Auburn in 2020, but comparing Pearl's system and development to Georgia currently doesn't work IMHO. I trust Pearl with lower talent levels that have been in his program for multiple years light years more than I trust Crean (or many others, for that matter). Their biggest problem is that they have a roster full of what I am anticipating are solid role guys. If they don't sign Green I just don't see anybody who scares you there at all outside of Cooper.

They'll still be solid, but it would seem like much more of a transition year than any of the ones he has had yet since they got good a few years ago. Wouldn't shock me if they found a way into the tournament but I probably wouldn't predict it.
