Why wouldn’t Auburn hire Fickell? He’s a better coach imo
I wouldn’t mind

Who knows what will happen?

This week has been fun, but no one truly knows where Lane ends up.

The bottom line is that college football is shifting to favoring two power conferences and that means a rising tide will lift all boats in the SEC and Big.

Ole Miss will get a good coach if Lane leaves and AU will get a good one if he stays.

The only thing I would say is Ole Miss is probably tired of this two years in a row.

Right? This marketing is gold. It benefits AU/OM/Lane/ whoever is the other coach to plug into either school and down the carousel.

Honestly, the exposure that these two schools are getting regarding how much they are willing to pay along with the NIL membership drives they have both enjoyed and now have advertised to the whole nation is invaluable.

Isn’t Fickell a big Catholic who wants his kids in Catholic Schools? Seems like LSU would be his only option in the SEC. I’m not aware of any of the rest of us having true Catholic schools.

I agree. Ole Miss is going to be fine either way. So will AU.

List the things that make Ole Miss a "drastically better" job than Cincinnati.

I would suspect a raise in salary, more NIL money, more fertile recruiting ground, larger venue, better facilities, etc.

That’s true. We all can bust chops among ourselves but almost all of us in the SEC compared nationally are very competitive programs.

AU has established historically they plan to compete in the best conference in America.

OM just let everyone in America know that we also plan to compete in the NFL farm system in earnest.

just don’t see why Fickell would make a lateral move

Honestly I hope Fickell has been monitoring the situation in hopes he gets the Auburn offer, because I have wanted him to be this super secret candidate everyone has been saying Cohen was talking to

Fickell isn’t leaving Cincy for Ole Miss. Cincy is joining the P5 and he is a Midwest guy waiting on his chance at Ohio State.
