There’s a lot of them but the only one who has flashed, if you actually read my post, is a true freshman.

Josh Williams and Notre Dame’s #1 Logan Diggs will get first look. Both are solid if unspectacular.

Huh? An All-SEC QB candidate, ultra-talented skill players, top 10 recruiting the past 5 yrs, multiple All-American defensive players, a favorable schedule, and very fair shots vs two Top 10 teams (FSU, Alabama).

What's not to like about LSU's NC chances?

Yea I’m not saying it’s a lock or anything. I think FSU should be legit this year. Norvell is a good coach and they have a lot coming back

LSU leading rusher last year was the Qb. Not a good sign to be fair. OL was an issue last year for LSU as well.

Seems like a let down year for yall. 8 win season if I had to guess

I'm leaning 10 wins, based on what we have back and the schedule.

O Line was an issue last year, mostly as a result of growing pains. I think there's a big payoff this year because of that.

Daniels leading the team in rushing doesn't bug me that much; part of that is because of the offense. Lots of passing plays, where because of his dynamic athleticism he could take off for 10-20 yds. Emery was expected to be a significant RB, he couldn't get eligible for a few games. Goodwin began to emerge, then he got hurt. And the scheme asks for a 3-4 yd run to move the chains and keep the defense honest, not a 25 carry, 120 yds a game RB.

Schedule... most of the tougher games are in Tiger Stadium. I see Fla State as a circled, payback/make an impression game. Alabama is the one game I basically concede, but LSU plays better at Alabama anyway.
A&M, Auburn, Florida are all home games, and they're not overwhelming teams.

Would need a few guys who have not shown it to this point to really step up.

And which teams exactly don’t also need this?

Denver Harris is back. Update your post.

Denver Harris is running with the third team because he's too stupid to understand zone coverage.

If we win game 1 I think we can get to 11 wins.

The rb that ran over half your defense last year is our 3rd string back right now
yall squeaked out a win against Harsin after trailing 17-0. Shut the frick up.

Like I said, no name RBs.

This could be the case. But don't count on LSU's special teams being a cluster *** disaster like last year, which was a major reason they lost to FSU last year.

Edit: Also want to say communication was a big issue for the FSU loss last year. This is no longer a first year coaching staff's first game, and many players are now familiar with the coaches and schemes.

I too believe that we’re not there yet, but I also know that once the game starts, the stats and stars they got in high school go away. These players are going to get the chance to prove that they belong in the game, the “conversation”, and potentially the national championship. They’ll get to do it every play, every game. Unfortunate injuries, getting a “call”, coaching decisions, and depth will have a positive or negative affect. That applies to us and everyone else. Isn’t it awesome that we are going to get to watch it all happen. LSU is pretty good this year, and we don’t have to watch a coach run off left tackle on third and nine against Alabama. So anything is possible. Let’s get this party started, and goooooo tigers.

I agree with most of what you're saying Drac. I don't think LSU is there yet, but improving. I predicted 7 regular season wins last year and they pulled out 9, so who knows.

Edit: And I do think #5 is too high a ranking.

Yeah, I don't want to harp on past coaches, but man, they were horrible. Especially one particular LSU coach that had ZERO understanding of what the purpose of an offense is.

They have 2 all-SEC DTs and SDE Savion Jones (6'6" 280) who played just under 25% of the total defensive snaps and had 6 tfl and 4.5 sacks in '22. As the starter this year, he should break out and if you just double those numbers he's the 3rd all-SEC caliber player on the line. If they find an edge rusher, the line will be the best in the conference. At LB, you have two good experienced players and the most explosive LB in the country. I think we have to see them play to know what they have or don't have at CB, but the safeties are both good if Burns stays healthy.

On offense, I think you'll see Heard take over RT by mid season, meaning 3 elite Olinemen. Center is the only real ? with Turner, but I expect he'll be average at worst. If the soph Taylor takes the next step, TE is elite with some ridiculous talent coming up behind him. WR, Nabers is borderline elite, everyone else is solid, but there is potential for another elite threat to emerge from among Anderson and the 3 frosh.

I though KJ would take the reigns at RB by the end of the season, but it may be happening much earlier. There are a lot of good options here, but Jackson is the only one thats athletically elite. I also think Trey Holly can make an impact as he's very shifty with a low center of gravity.

There are plenty of pieces, but whether or not they are a true threat to win it all comes down to CB and QB. With the Dline and Perkins getting after the QB, the CBs don't have to be elite to the standard we've come to expect, but they have to be good.

The line will give him time this year, so Daniels has to be patient enough to get through his progressions and hit receivers in stride. If he can't take that step, they have to pull the trigger on Nuss, who has to stop forcing balls.

They absolutely can win the SEC and National title if QB play improves and the CBs are solid.

I feel like 9 regular season wins for LSU is a good over/under.

There are a lot of improvements compared to what Kelly inherited (especially the lines) but you have to make LSU a dog to the likes of Alabama and Georgia and a coin flip to FSU until we know better.

I also consider the west much less predictable than usual. Petrino and Freeze can show up or disappear from game to game.

What is LSU going to do to counter what Jimbo showed the league on how to handle Perkins?
