LSU vs Bama - Rational fan takes only

I think both teams bring their A Game and leave it all of the field. BK has LSU peaking at just the right moment but anyone that thinks a Saban Coached Bama is going to come out flat against us should just re-watch all the other games we've played them since he's been there

If LSU wants to win we can't sleepwalk through the first quarter and let them get way ahead of us, we can't have stupid special teams mistakes, and we can't extend Bama's drives or kill ours with penalties. We need to keep the game within striking distance and not get desperate or cute. Tiger Stadium needs to be packed and legendarily loud throughout the entire game.

The big obvious advantage Bama has is depth. While I have a ton of confidence in BK to get us where we need to be we're still a ways out with our roster so we need long, sustained drives to get points so we can keep our Defense rested, we don't have the depth to have them out on the field the entire game. Our TOP against Ole Miss was 36:19 to 23:41, we need at least that kind of TOP on our side.

That said I think Bama wins a close one but I wouldn't bet on it

I really have no idea how this game is going to go. I can see basically any outcome happening, because this Alabama team has no identity other than the fact it has no identity and is sloppy.

If Alabama comes out there and commits 15 penalties and/or turns the ball over 4 times, I don't think that is something you are going to recover from against LSU. Throw in some decent defense, to which BoB will likely never adjust too, and/or find a match up you can exploit in the Alabama DB along with a shitty mush rush gameplan that puts little pressure on the QB allowing him to wait for those DB to get exploited, and it could get ugly.

On the flip side, it could be the exact opposite. I think Alabama has the talent to dominate the frick out of LSU. If they don't commit a ton of penalties. If they execute on offense and catch the ball. If maybe BoB learns about the deep ball and throws them out to stretch the field. If Golding learns that blitzing constantly and creating negative plays with the occasional QB getting a run is better than giving the QB all night to find the open guy. Alabama could dominate.

But what degree between those extremes we actually get I have no fricking idea. I never bet on Alabama.

Perkins sat most of the FLA game and AR ran around untouched. If he can contain BY from running free, there is a chance.... kicking game is improving. I honestly dont see the zebras allowing Bama their second L and will contribute as much as they can to the cause.

Daniels can play an outstanding game and still lose. Bryce Young can be amazing. If he isn’t, LSU might have a chance.

It will come down to who has the most impact between number 40 and 18 in white , Or number 31 in red.

LSU has to start fast, at least on defense. Not going to come back from down 14+ after the 1st.

If we can play 4 full quarters, there’s a chance. I like our offense to score points - our receivers will get open and Anderson either has to face Campbell or line up where the QB can see him.

Problem is going to be on the back end of our defense if the pass rush can’t get home. Thankfully this isn’t Waddle/Jeudy/Smith/Ruggs but they can still burn us.

Think we need to live/die by the blitz.

If I had to bet, Bama by 10-13

But if JD can handle the inevitable pressure Bama is gonna bring, it'll be a very good game.

Let’s also be real : bama also would’ve lost to Texas if Quinn ewers was never hurt. Let’s not act like bama is a world bearer this year

1. I am genuinely surprised at how well this thread has gone.

2. Ah yes the annual (2 year hiatus aside. Sorry for not holding our end of the bargain BAMA) battle for the west. LSU has 2 special edge rushers this year in Perkins and Ojulari. Do we get pressure with them or not? To me that will be the difference. LSU was able to do that against Dart and he faded down the stretch. Young is a much more experienced and better player than Dart at this point. Even if we get the pressure, I just don’t know that we will through #9 off his game enough. I do think LSU offense has improved tremendously over the last few weeks, but 35-24 bad guys. Hope for a fun watch.

LSU is getting too much clout atm. I’d rather fly under the radar but I trust Kelly a lot more Miles and especially O to keep them grounded
