If I’m LSU on offense, I keep doing exactly what I’m doing. You don’t need balance...don’t fix what’s not broken. AU has rushed the passer very well, but not great. Great QB, very good receivers..don’t get cute. AU’s pass coverage is decent, “good” is a stretch. #33 at MLB cant cover...TE seams would eat him alive. AU can stop the run and will devour Burrow on slow developing pass plays. Accurate, short passes will carve up AU.

If I’m LSU D, duh, make Bo Nix beat you. He likely can’t.

AU on O, if you can’t back the safeties off, you lose. Nix has to hit deep balls early, or there will be no balance and unlike LSU, AU needs balance to win.

AU on D: pray...but also, get #91 back on the field, be very selective and eccentric with blitzes, try to create pressure with 4 as often as possible, keep #33 off the field, #31 is by far the better option to defend the pass, hit Burrow in the mouth...

Our running game has improved massively and will be the difference imo

Safety blitz every play but switch the middle line backer with the safety so it is like a stealthy lineback blitz but it's safe cause it is coming from a safety position. That's what I would do.

It is. On offense all right turn passing routes, and run plays that go right. I like to call that the UPS plan. Very safe, no turning across traffic with dangerous collisions. It also sets up the naked bootleg run play really well.

LSU run game has improved some, but the AU Dline is full of monsters. You are right that Burrow will have to utilize a short passing game. For AU offense - mid range crossing patterns seem to work well against LSU. The middle of the field seems most vulnerable.

Don't punt to Stingley. AU will have to win the TOP by a good bit.

LSU had 24 running plays against Florida and 24 passing plays. Seems like balance to me.

get the ball out of burrows hands to the fast open LSU receivers and let them get YAC. this will nullify the auburn pass rush. Look for some screen passes in this one, which lsu has very rarely run this season.

I look for 5-6 passes to moss (TE) while covered by a MLB. And LSU gets marshall back for this game finally healthy. he was leading the country in TD's before he hurt his ankle.

Florida had the right idea working the clock and keeping Burrow on the sidelines. I would try to do that.

Some up the middle pressures have gotten to Burrow by MSU and Utah State specially. LSU adjusted both games are though.

Let's face it, were gonna have to have some turnovers to win this game and were gonna have to protect the ball. I think our D is capable of that and that's what its gonna take. Straight up no turnovers, we lose. But if we force some turnovers, we could give ourselves a chance. It's gonna take some gambling on Steele's part.

Auburns offense is going to have to sustain long clock eating drives. if LSU can slow down the running game of auburn, I have zero faith nix is going to be accurate throwing down field. he had open receivers in gainesville running free and couldn't hit them.

On offense, I’d run the ball, then run or pass, then pass, then run twice, then do a delayed run, then play action pass for s TD.

On defense I’d guard the WR’s and try to stop the run.

Punch the freshman in the mouth.
Hit him
Hit him again.
Even if you give up a TD, knock his god damn block off.
Make him scared. Rattle him. Make him scared. Taunt him. When you hit him, make it stick, hard. Damn hard. Then Do it again and again.

On offense, let joe be joe and not let your foot off the gas.
5 touchdowns passes
500 yards

Auburn has a good D line but their secondary is below average. If LSU o line plays like they did against florida it's going to be a long day for the war eagles defense. Burrow might throw for 450 this game if LSU doesn't let up.

As evidenced by 84 yards rushing against State? LSU has an inexplicably good rushing effort against UF (perhaps because of the threat of the pass?), and had a great rushing game against Utah State...but has otherwise been pedestrian in the run game. Don’t get me wrong, elite offense, but Burrow is the engine. Live and die by that sword.

LSU’s top two backs (CEH and TDP) averaged 8.45 yards per carry vs Florida and MsState.

Is that enough evidence?

Including Utah State, that’s 7.0 yards per carry over the last 3 games.

Look, I want Auburn to win, obviously...so I’d loving nothing more than for LSU to say “hey...screw this passing crap. Let’s go I-formation and just pound it down Auburn’s throat”. I’m just telling you that my opinion is this is unlikely to work. I’m a fan of your #22. Really quick feet, great combination of speed and power. But if LSU thinks that this is the game to run for 250 and pass for 250. Yeah no. This is the game to pass for 400 and run for 100. It’s the equivalent to saying “hey ya know what...I bet Bo Nix will have the game of his life if we don’t defend him like he’s Tom Brady. Let’s clamp down on that passing game and make AU’s running game beat us”.
That’s the kind of ridiculous overthinking we AU fans have become accustomed to.

Lucky for you, the LSU coaching staff isn’t nearly that stupid.

This is one of those rare real football talk threads that didn't get hijacked, at least not yet. Good stuff.

I guess the bottom line is all we can do is watch and cheer our teams on. This is LSU / AU. Anything can happen.

Make Bu Nik (not an accurate thrower at all) beat you through the air.
