I expect the selection committee will take the Pac-10 champ 9 times out of 10.
But if Florida is a better team, there is no reason for Florida to be excluded.

Point being, the selection committee will select the Pac-10 Champion over Florida who finshed second in their SEC division or finished second in the SEC Championship game--9 times out of 10.
It's not impossible for a second SEC team to make the playoffs, but people on here seem to think it will happen virtually every year, which is not realistic.
If anything, the SEC is about to start beating up on each other even more often when they go to a 9-game season.

Bama, GA and FL are the top three teams now but LSU is closer than you think.
A complete non sequiter response that ignores the poster's factual geographic point. This is almost as bad as your bogus power ranking link trying to sell Tennessee as a current football powerhouse (with due respect to the Vols).
You are nothing more than a bullshite poster and amateur troll.

I'll have to disagree with you. I think both UF & Bama would've gotten in the playoffs in 2008 & 2009, LSU & Bama in 2011, and Bama & UF last year. And I think that trend will continue going forward for the foreseeable future. Now there will be years were only one SEC team gets in, but that will be the exception and not the norm.

I have no problem with us playing Florida every year. In fact, Gainesville is one of my favorite trips.
My problem is missing out on great players and teams. with the 6-1-1 we could miss out on the next Walker, Manning, Bo, etc... go to a 9 game 6-3 schedule and I should be able to see virtually every player that goes thru the SEC at least once. And by adding the 9th game,"it means we probably get to see more good games each year."

UA/AU to the East and Mizzou/UK to the West would solve this nicely
Not the worst of ideas. Would also balance out

I have no problem at all playing UF and LSU has shown they are not scared to play top teams, just look at our scheduling the past few years. What I have a problem with is teams like Bama playing shite schedules because their cross rival is a dumpster fire. They are feeding the rest of the SEC shite sandwiches and telling us it's good for the league.
If they are not scared why not change?
If they are not scared why not change?

First off...

Secondly, if you can not understand the concept of rivals for certain teams, then maybe you need to switch your focus to the NFL.

How many "rivals" do ya'll have? UF is not LSU's rival.

Two, and as a Bama fan, I want to keep them at all costs.
And I realize that LSU and UF aren't rivals. Heck, LSU doesn't even have any rivals (which I don't understand personally, but that is y'alls deal).
Look for those LSU fans that don't want to keep the yearly UF game, there is an easy solution. Let's just keep the Bama/UT & UGA/barn (and maybe Arky/Mizzou in the future) games and free up everyone else like the B1G is doing with IN/PU. But leave our rivalries that we value alone.

Rivalries are great, but we lost UF-Auburn. That was a pretty great rivalry for decades and one of the most played games in the SEC. Had we continued to play them, I believe it would have been tied as our longest series with UGA.

I don't know why this keeps degenerating into a permanent opponent argument, and why Bama fans keep trying to make this the argument. I suspect it is to try to take away attention from the real and undeniable advantage that they've garnered from the bridge schedule.

That is where the real shite sandwich is. So Bama fans, let's stop talking about LSU-UF and focus on the real issue, or does that not suit your agena?
It's not a Bama fan bringing this up, the article clearly states:
Today, the SEC’s athletic directors will meet and Tiger AD Joe Alleva will once again claim that LSU faces a disadvantage because his school is forced to play Florida each and every season as its permanent opponent. That game, of course, has become one of the best on the SEC’s schedule and television execs have paid the league pretty darn well for that schedule over the past five years.
Florida officials aren’t thrilled with the prospect of having to play an East Division schedule and LSU each year, but the volume on Gainesville groaning hasn’t reached LSU proportions yet. That’s ironic considering Florida has more to complain about.

UF has lost 4+ games 5 times over the last 10 seasons. With 3 really good seasons and Last year was a big surprise to almost everyone. It will interesting to see how they fair this year.

In 2008, while Bama had 2 losses, Florida, USC, Texas, and Boise St. had 1 loss, and Oklahoma and Penn St. also had 2 losses. Considering Florida beat Bama 31-20, I don't see Bama getting back into a playoff system.
In 2009 it might be a closer call, but again, by Florida losing to Bama by 19 points in the SEC C.G, I don't see Forida knocking out an undefeated Boise St. or Cincinnati team.
In these politically correct times with congressional hearings on why non-BCS teams are being treated unfairly, I think conference championship games are going to be looked at more and more as part of the playoff system; lose your conference championship game in regulation, and you are out--overtime losses for BCS teams is another thing.
