People saying this now are just as dumb as the LSU fans who were saying the same damn thing about Bama and Saban never recovering from the Utah game.
That was a complete failure of a performance, and now its just a footnote, and noone but Bama fans, Utah fans, and a small handfull of hardcore CFB fans could even tell you who played in the 09 Sugar bowl.
Make no mistake, the 1/9 game will linger longer, because its looking daily like the 2011 season is going to be the final kick in the pants necessary to get some kind of playoff going, but in 2 years LSU will still be a major national player in CFB, and the BCSNCG is just going to be one of those days that makes the big victories that much sweeter for fans of the program.
People are so short-sighted and myopic sometimes.

O'Really? Everytime I turn around another publication has us number 1 for next season. For having lost all our respect people sure do think we have a damn good football team.

Every SEC team has one goal at the beginning of the year. Win the SEC. You win the SEC, you usually make it to the title game.

A three-point overtime win sends you to the SECCG, which you win, and the proceed to get blown out in the BCS title game by that team you barely beat earlier in the season.
And you don't understand how that diminishes the value of the SEC title?
I can't stand Alabama, but there's not a doubt in my mind they were the best team in the conference last year.

bullshite. We were beaten by the best Bama team of all time. We beat 3 top 3 opp(2 away from TS) beat 7 ranked teams. Beat two cconference champs. Beat the National Champs at home. Are preseason #1 and the favorite to win the 2012-2013 bcsc.
Yeah LSU's image as a dominate program is really taking a dive.

An SEC title encompasses everything that took place that season up until and including the SEC Championship game. LSU was 13-0 and SEC champion after beating Georgia soundly. Losing to Bama in the NC game in no way, shape or form diminishes the SEC title that LSU EARNED last year. Unless you are the fan of a delusional, jealous fanbase that didn't win said title. End of story. You are trying too hard. Bama won the BCS Championship. I don't dispute that nor argue that fact. But it in no way tarnishes LSU's title last year.

That may be true. But LSU is still the SEC Champions of 2011 and that will never change. I'm pretty sure every LSU fan would love to switch a national title for a conference title, but to think LSU fans aren't going to be proud of winning a conference is dumb as hell.

There should only be one fan base talking shite on this thread. Gumps have every right to run their mouth about the NOLA arse whipping but every other SEC fan better take a look at what we did to them before opening their mouth.
