No shite. So an awful lot of those people would have to change their mind and jump Ok St over Alabama (and whoever else is in front of them) just because they won a game at home over a team that's lost to Texas Tech and Baylor?

OU is still a very good football team. They're ranked number 6 currently. Alot of humans would changed their mind, I can promise you that.

Experiment:
The OP obviously understands how the BCS rankings are calculated and then actually does the work to calculate possible outcomes while carefully explaining why and where he limited unknown variables.

Result:
You will still get posters who don't distinguish what "they want to happen" from what they "think will happen" without actually confronting any of the methodology of the original post.

Conclusion:
This board, this site, and this country in general are way too full of mouths without brains and opinions without ideas.

Hey, I had the computers right. I still can"t believe OSU fell so far.

Cmon, everyone knew the winner of LSU/Arky was going.

This year, unfortunately for Arkansas and Bama, LSU will get into the SEC CG as long as Auburn beats Bama. A win over Arky is secondary at this point. I am not sayint it is fair or righteous, but it is true.

I keep seeing all of these people predict results and stand by them as factual, but people need to remember that 2/3 of the poll is by humans, not computers, and you simply can't predict what humans are going to do.

I might be misunderstanding you but I don't think this is correct. If Auburn beats Alabama an LSU win over Arkansas is anything but secondary. There will be no more 3-way tie breaker and Arky will be in the SEC championship with a win over LSU.

You are correct. I worded it wrong. As long as Alabama wins, beating Arkansas is seconday.

LSU is the first 1.000 BCS team in 5yrs, and only the second ever. Given an OT loss, you think LSU would drop further than the 2 spots Bama did?

uh no lol.

I think they would drop exactly two spots. LSU won't maintain a 1st ranking in computer polls if they lose.

i don't think some of the people here actually understand how large of a gap it is between 1.000 and .899

BY FAR the most intelligent comment in the entire thread. FTR, I think LSU fans make an excellent point regarding Okie State. However, a lot of their thinking assumes that that they're automatically going to change their minds drastically about Okie State with a win over Oklahoma and suddenly think much less of Alabama even after a road rivalry win in the Iron Bowl (assuming they win by 10 or more). I think it could absolutely happen but I do think LSU fans are making an awfully big assumption that it works out this way. Okie State's big gain among the voters at Alabama's expense is heavily predicated on many voters doing anti-rematch protest votes and sabotaging Alabama in the voting to keep them out. There's nothing concrete to suggest that voters will definitely vote this way yet many LSU fans are convinced they will.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the voters have to publically reveal their votes at the end so there vote is there for everyone to see?

Most people are looking at 2007 and 2006 as examples where pollsters changed their #2 votes drastically to effect the final polls.

I disagree with this statement, but agree overall with the OP and thread.

10-1 Ok State would likely be ahead of LSU 11-1 LSU at least in Colley, maybe more.

Care to make a wager on that? Assumes of course that bama beats auburn and ok state beats oklahoma. Ok state has no chance to overtake bama in the bcs unless they trounce oklahoma by 30 and bama looks really bad in defeating auburn.

Most people aren't assuming anything about the voters. Most people are just saying it could happen.

I'm pretty sure they have a decent chance if they beat Oklahoma. All they need is some voters to vote against a rematch. Not saying this is going to happen, but to say there is no chance is just idiocy.
