That 2003 LSU team became what Oklahoma was for much of the season. And Oklahoma felt the wrath in the Sugar Bowl. It felt worse than a 7 point loss. It felt like a 63-28 loss....sigh.

Oklahoma got a serious dose of the "Bama Bias" that year, since 2003 was the first year that Pete Carroll had returned USC to its former glory, and OU had the shine of a recent NC. It's things like that that make me scoff when other blue-blood programs want to complain about Alabama's favoritism.

That game should have been LSU vs. USC, and any reasonable person would agree. Not even in a hindsight is 20/20 kind of way - OU lost the game before the NC game by four touchdowns. The '01, '03, '04, '07, and '11 seasons proved that we needed to move forward with the playoffs. It's embarrassing how slow D1 CFB has moved and evolved compared to every other level of football.

2003 Oklahoma falling off the map like they did is one of the strangest things I've ever seen in college football. That team played 12 weeks looking like the best team the sport had ever seen, and then they just suddenly sucked in their last two games.

That was not a team that was scraping by in close games while looking like they would inevitably get blown out (like 2014 FSU). 2003 Oklahoma destroyed everyone until the Big 12 title game.

2003 because it had been so long and we did not really know how we would perform.

2007 and 2019 were great.. but in both cases we were very very confident. Expected to win..

The 2019 season was the most memorable. And in the players mind Bama in Tuscaloosa was the toughest game and biggest hurdle.

My personal favorite was ‘03. It was my fourth year at LSU, and was probably one of the funnest years of my life. The excitement seemed to be higher, because it was the first in many of our lifetimes.

That OU team was 100% a product of the national media hype machine. The SEC was not nationally recognized like it is now, but was probably the toughest conference in the country. The moment OU faced a battle tested team that matched their athleticism (LSU), they lost.

The 2019 season was overall the best, for obvious reasons, but if I had to say what individual championship game itself was the most entertaining I’d probably say the game against Ohio St.

It’s still kind of surreal to me that all 4 of our national title games have been played in New Orleans

2019 has to be the best game for me. It was much less stressful than the other title games so I had more fun watching. I knew we were going to win.

I will say though, the circumstances leading up to us even playing in the 2007 game was wild. And 2003 was awesome as it was the first in my lifetime.

All of them hold a special place to me, but I can watch 2019 on repeat.

Kids in CFB today know nothing but Oklahoma flopping on the big stage. They’re like 0-9 in their most recent finals/semifinals with a bunch of asswhoppings

Winning their first 12 games by an average score of 48-13 is what caused the hype.

2019 season shut the door.. It’s gotta be 2019. Never seen a team achieve what they did during the season like that team did. It’s really special.

Yeah, but they had a regular season game against 4-9 Alabama, where they struggled to beat them 20-13. OU played a weak schedule, and trounced a bunch of inferior teams. K-State and LSU were their first real tests all season.

USC's average score was 41–18 on the year, and they played remarkably similar competition. They each played six teams with losing records. USC's only ranked win until the bowl game was a 43–16 rout against #9/10–3 Washington State. Oklahoma's big win was 65–13 against #12/10–3 Texas. USC's other victories were: @8–5 Auburn, 9–5 Hawai'i, 8–5 Oregon State, @ 6–6 Washington.

OU's schedule was 9–4 Oklahoma State, @8–5 Texas Tech, 8–5 Missouri, 9–4 North Texas, 9–5 Fresno State.

It's almost a complete wash, with the scale slightly in OU's favor - especially considering they played an extra conference championship game. But you can't blow that game by four touchdowns and still be in the NC game a couple of weeks later over the other team with basically the exact same resume.

All of this should have been taken into account by the final game of the season, but the same BS that happened two years prior with Nebraska happened again. And then a year later, Oklahoma would get in over Auburn and blow THAT chance. Big 12 bias was fierce in the early BCS days. At least when the SEC gets shown favoritism, the SEC team puts up.

Depends what you mean by "best"

2003 was special, because it was the first title of the modern era after a long down period.

2007 was arguably the most fun just due to the chaos of that season and the roller coaster ride we went on as a team.

2019 was by far the most satisfying though. 15-0, possibly the best season of all time, GOAT Burrow, revenge on Clemson, exorcising Super Dome demons, etc.

It's hard to top that.

2019 no contest.

That is the forth championship in my lifetime.

15-0

Heisman Trophy winner

2003 was special knew LSU would win and it would be close, tried to tell OU fans only Lamb and Hurt would start on that team and the semi finally would not be close.

2007 not as special, LSU was going to win that game no doubt and I was only off 3 points on the final score (I had LSU scoring 3 more)

2011 I had Bama winning it by over 14 going in, because the feel of the season was much like 1959 all over and even told Jamie at the card shop the final could be the same as the Ole Miss game 21-0.

1958 I was to young to remember, but have seen the game...this is at a time the championship is given out before the Bowl games.

2019 most satisfying . Best team of all time beating down yet another top 10 team that was supposed to be a test.

2019. I was an undergrad during the 2011 season and the final game was demoralizing. Feels so damn good now
