I imagine that's a huge part of being an Ole Miss fan. You can't really just watch your own team since there's not much history of success there. You also have to rope in LSU in the mix because your school just doesn't have a whole lot to offer on it's own.
It's the difference between an actual SEC powerhouse and one of these mid-tiered SEC schools. Ole Miss doesn't offer enough for you to be able to JUST cheer for them. It's kind of sad really but it's not like it's a new phenomenon.

Mary Shelley wrote a book about that once. LSU fans haven’t made it past picture books unfortunately.
