Even as good as the SEC has been, let's say Alabama had been down the last 10 years -- the point being leagues cannot survive if your flagship team is down.
Before Bama was worth a shite
LSU national champs 2003
Auburn undefeated in 2004 and screwed
Florida national champs 2006
LSU national champs in 2007
Sec was doing just fine

Muh I cannot find LSU anywhere. I thought they hired Brian Kelly to make LSU a better team but they are not a better team. Drinkwitz is building a better team in Mizzou. That is why LSU will not win a championship with Brian Kelly.

Who knew
Riley is an expert on SEC football.
Such an expert he got the hell out of OU prior to their move. And did not take the LSU job even though that should have been an easy choice. Well I guess. An easy choice for a top coach.

I don’t blame him for leaving OU
Fans aren’t going to lower expectations when they enter the SEC. They are going to expect 11-1 seasons every year just like they have been doing. When OU enters the SEC, that coaching job is the worst in the nation

You think so
Maybe you’re right. Maybe this move hurts them like the Huskers move hurt them.
I figure they will do better than Texas but maybe that’s not that big of a deal.
I just think Riley has shown to be an average coach and I don’t see him doing that well at USC.

OU fans will want blood because they are used to going 11-1 over and over again with relative ease

I'm a huge LSU fan. Look I will not read the article Given the choice of LA or Baton Rouge I'm taking LA. USC offered more money, and an easier path to the playoff where he can continue to get his breaks beat off. I'm glad Riley went to USC he only knows offense and they dosen't play in the SEC
Just not a huge LSU student.
That whole thing was hard to read.

Behind the scenes alot of people knew what was going on.
LR`s agent and BK`s are the same guy .It was a classic
smokescrene for their agent to get them the jobs they wanted.LR to LSU for a week while negotiating with USC,
BK`s name never coming up for a job ,giving LR plausible
deniability toward the LSU job.LR told LSU he wasn`t
interested early on. BK was interested in LSU and it was
kept quiet giving the parties time to work things out.
We all know SW wanted JF and thank GOD that didn`t happen,
that would have been a disaster ,another Les Miles,in
offensive football. The tigers got the best coach by a long
shot. The SEC has been put on notice,LSU with a real coach.

That aside, USC is one of the 4 or 5 best programs in the nation.
It’s been a while since this has been true. Their only true national title since 1978 was vacated.

This just isn’t true. Real OU fans understand this isn’t the Big 12. We know that conference titles and trips to the CFP will be fewer, but that’s ok. Iron sharpens iron and time and time again OU has gotten beaten handily at the hands of the SEC. Obviously the schedule gauntlet is a big part, but look at the offensive and defensive lines of the SEC. OU has to get bigger and stronger on both lines to give themselves a chance. We want to be a part of the best conference in the country. We want to get better, we want those dogfights that may result in losses, but make you better in the long run. Will it take time? Yes, but I believe Oklahoma will be just fine in this conference and that includes more losses and fewer conference titles. But, the years that OU may make it to the CFP, they’ll be ready for anyone. There’s nobody else we as OU fans would rather have than Brent Venables leading us to the SEC. I look forward to the tailgating, the great atmospheres, and hopefully meeting a bunch of y’all.

I saw that article somewhere earlier and his quote about not being scared to coach in the SEC is a 100% lie. He knows exactly what is in store for OU and Texas in the next few years when they join. He's had the cakewalk through an easy conference only to get smashed by SEC teams in the playoffs. You think he wants that 3 times a year at minimum? No.
So he will collect a giant check from USC and get them smashed in the playoffs (USC people will just be happy to be there) a couple times in 5 years and then move to the NFL (that he didn't take calls from
). Dude is pussy of the highest order.

Well done on a level headed take on what's coming up. But takes like this from OU fans have been few and are between.
It's one thing for a small contingent to have patience, but those throwing big money around expect to win and win now. Especially at a program like Oklahoma.

I see where you’re coming from and yes there are those who expect to win now. But I really think the administration (President Harroz and AD Castiglione) knows what it’s going to take, which is time. It’s been said here before that Lincoln had some really good skill players, but the defense and both lines were way undersized. Rome wasn’t built in a day and I still feel that most believe it will take time. Honestly, the move to the SEC right away would only hurt Oklahoma more. Coaches need time to recruit the players they want/need to compete in the SEC. I would love to see us here in 2023, but I think it’ll be 2024, which only helps OU .
