I'm fine with playing Florida because I love the atmosphere surrounding playing a historically better team.

Amazing how Florida is not getting asked the same question as to how acceptable it is to play LSU every year...

Put me down as a "ok with it". I love that game. It was more enjoyable to me when Florida wasn't in a slump, but that should be back to form soon. You are only as good as your competition, screw playing cupcakes for the sake of an easy W.

Crowpelien Math:

1) LSU plays Florida every year.
2) LSU is the most successful CFB team in the Modern era.

Equation over...chalk me as hugh YES!

A) there are less than 10 regular UF posters here
B) Our coach and AD have not mentioned LSU and fairness so we aren't a Gump target
C) most of the fans I know don't want the LSU game to end.

I love playing Florida every year. How bad would it suck having to play Kentucky or Vandy every year?

I'm fine either way. Yea, the Florida game has provided some great moments, but I don't think Florida vs LSU gets either fanbase going year in and year out.

I would like to play Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina more than we do. But having to play Florida every year just to make Alabama happy so they can play Tennessee every year is stupid.

For the LSU fans that want a 6-2, I'm not sure I understand why. Do you really want to trade UF many years for more games against Vandy and UK?

I'm not asking if you think it is fair, but is that really what you want to watch and/or pay to see?

I hold the LSU/UF game in pretty high regard and having more of those top match-ups is part of what makes the SEC better than the other conferences.

ETA: I-59, while it is certainly a biased opinion article, I thought this article explained the strengths of the 6-1-1 over the 6-2 and why it was originally done with permanent cross divisional opponents. Try to ignore the writers snarky comments toward Miles and Alleva.

yea,that's the real reason.

Nice how you left out Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. LSU hardly ever plays them.

If Tennessee-Alabama and Georgia-Auburn warms the hearts of those fan bases for decades of great games, stories, tradition, great. LSU-Florida ain't in that boat.

I wasn't saying it was the reason, but that is what will happen. The schedule will be weaker more years with a 6-2 than a 6-1-1.

I wasn't intending to play the "you scared" card as much as the, have you thought about the years (which will likely be the more than half) your schedule is going to be less desirable than it would be under the 6-1-1?

The SEC already placed Missouri in the East for Football to prevent any possible disruption of the Alabama-Auburn football game. That's fine and while geographically weird this football game is a big part of the SEC year in and year out.

Tennessee-Alabama isn't, at least not since 1973. If Alabama wants to dig in and talk about how the world won't be the same if they don't play UT each year,go for it. By the same token there is nothing wrong whatsover with LSU questioning the decision to continue the current structure. How many SEC pundits go back and talk about any LSU-Florida game from the 1950's,1960's or 1970's ? None. I don't care how many NC's Alabama has won, real or pretend the SEC shouldn't bend over every single time Alabama says so.

Alabama and Ole Miss played each other in 1980 and 1981 as non-conference games. If Tennessee-Alabama is so sacred let Alabama schedule them instead of Kent State, UT Chattanooga and Georgia State.

I was trying to get beyond the rhetoric and just talk about the result of the proposed change. I see you aren't interested in that.

Anyway, I didn't read the thread so you may have already commented in there, but check out the "Roommate Switch" proposal. Seems like the best idea proposed so far.

IF we have a permanent opponent, I absolutely want it to be Florida. I would rather rotate SEC East opponents so we play all of them with reasonable frequency. In the best of all worlds, I would want us to play Florida every year and still play the other SEC East teams with reasonable frequency, but that would mean going to 9 games and it doesn't look like they're going to do that. I don't know where that puts me on your poll.

Check out the "Roommate Switch" thread. By far the best idea yet. Too bad it wasn't proposed soon enough to gain any traction.
