That might be too high of a goal currently.

They did have practice, just not a full practice. I'm sure Coach O will still say it was a tremendous practice, best one all year, etc, etc.

Firing a coach mid season but then allowing him to coach out the year is a huge blunder. Nobody on that team cares now.

What could LSU have done to make them keep "caring?"

Everyone knew O was getting fired, he was a lame duck either way.

At least this way, everyone knows what the next step is and LSU can actually pursue a new coach.

would they have cared more being coached by a lame duck interim who won't be on staff next year?

2019 was the luckiest season in history. (or was that 2010?)

Wow, their players are softer than their fans.

They absolutely care.

The coaches care about finding their next job.

And the players care about finding a new team to pick them up out of the portal.

Stupid practices keep getting in the way of everyone's real work, so now they're just not going anymore.

Asterisk in 2019 for Tua being injured, and 2021 because of injuries

He gets 16.4 million dollars I wouldn't worry too much about him. He is laughing all the way to the bank. Good gig by big-time coaches get a huge buyout and if you get fired walk away rich not a bad gig. I think I would get over being fired pretty quick.

That means 4 per year. 81 players on the roster in 2020, 81 players on the roster in 2021. They word it that way in press releases to make it sound more punitive than it is.

Correct, that is what LSU imposed, but with portal transfers outpacing signees and portal transfers in, LSU was in fact well below that 81 in 2020 and was below it to start 2021.

I think LSU started 2021 with 78 Scholarship players, 17 on IR so to speak and 2 already have hit the portal, that is minus 19 so that gets you to about 59. FCS teams I think have 65. So LSU is 6 less than what an FCS team has and still has to play 3 SEC teams and a G5 team in ULM.
