Can we just get an LSU athletics investigations/alleged crimes megathread? It would be nice to try to organize all of this. A flow chart would be a big help too.

Trying to compare LSU to what was going on at Baylor is laughable.
I know, it might be worse at LSU

Or even worse at A&M, who really knows?

Former student Calise Richardson, who shared her account with USA TODAY in December, said she and other students in the football recruiting office were encouraged to do anything to lure top football recruits on visits to LSU, including having sex with them. Players, coaches and other men affiliated with LSU solicited her for sex on multiple occasions, she said.

One recruit raped Richardson in 2015 during an official visit, the lawsuit said. Guice attempted to rape her in fall 2016, she said, and then spread rumors around the football program that she would have sex with anyone, which led to additional sexual advances from others.

Disgusting.

I love the number of LSU fans completely unwilling to acknowledge the real possibility of losing accreditation.

How much of a real possibility do you think that is?

As a graduate from another TX school, I’m sure you’re aware how disingenuous this comment is?

I love the number of people who actually believe LSU will lose accreditation even more. It’s not a very real possibility. It’s an extremely remote possibility.

Honestly, I don't even consider it as a possibility if it didn't happen to Baylor, Michigan State or Penn State.

Because it’s not going to happen and everyone on this board knows it. UNC was manufacturing fake classes and got a slap on the wrist from the accreditation board. I don’t think people have any idea what it takes for a major university to actually lose accreditation. Either that or they don’t care to know

The problem at LSU isn't just on the football team, and sexual assault is rampant throughout the entire AD. The worst concern of all is that the staff seem to be just as pervy, and retain their jobs.

So not only is there a coverup of sexual assault, but it is a systemic issue throughout the entire faculty and administration as well as the students and student athletes. That's pretty terrible

Baylor had like dozens of incidents, gang rapes, prison sentences etc that spanned over a period of almost 10 years dude.

What happened at LSU is horrible but people really need to stop being so obsessed with every new news story being the best or worst thing ever.

It's disgraceful. Radio host today called it stair stepping the punishment. They're just gonna keep adding on a little more punishment here and there until they think the response is satisfactory. IMO the action should be swift so they can start to repair the damage ASAP. To me, it seems like this incremental punishment model is just creating more damage by keeping it in the news. Just get it done already.

I certainly agree.
This situation needs to be addressed in its entirety and concluded as quickly as possible. If LSU is guilty of something, convict them and start their punishment as quickly as possible. Don't drag it out because it hurts the school and the conference. GET IT DONE!

quote:

It's believed there were at least 125 cases of sexual assault or harassment at Baylor -- and possibly many more -- since 2011. article is from 2016

quote:

Former Title IX coordinator Patty Crawford, who oversaw all sex assault investigations from 2014 to 2016, estimated the actual number of cases may be higher.

In her two years alone, she said, "hundreds" of women came forward with stories of rape, stalking, harassment or assault

quote:

Baylor regents have said that at least 19 football players have been accused of sexual or physical assault, including four alleged gang rapes, since 2011. (Article was written in 2016)

quote:

But an explosive lawsuit filed in January alleged that the number was far higher. Based on investigation by lawyers, the suit claimed that 31 Baylor football players committed at least 52 acts of rape, including five gang rapes, between 2011 and 2014.

quote:

In response to libel lawsuits, school officials released the most detailed account yet in February.

That account, which came in a court filing, included damning text messages between former head football coach Art Briles and other athletics officials. The texts showed that Briles and others had tried to keep misconduct by football players hidden, creating what the filing called a "see-no-evil, report-no-evil" culture.

quote:

Football coaches and staff “conducted their own untrained internal inquiries, outside of policy, which improperly discredited complainants and denied them the right to a fair, impartial and informed investigation.”

quote:

In some cases, including reports of a sexual assault by multiple football players, athletic department and football officials knowingly did not report sexual violence to an administrator outside the department. Football coaches or staff members “met directly with a complainant and/or a parent of a complainant and did not report the misconduct.

quote:

The football program employed a “separate system of internal discipline,” which reinforced the perception that “rules applicable to other students are not applicable to football players.” The separate system protected football players from standard consequences and placed students at the risk future misconduct.

I am not trying to pick sides here, but who is still hanging around football players a year after one of them rapes you?
