Honestly, I don't even consider it as a possibility if it didn't happen to Baylor, Michigan State or Penn State.
Murphy's Law
I'm not sure basing potential punishments off other situations is the best course of action from LSU administrators.
The mishandling of those investigations helped those universities kinda escape more severe sanctions. If that’s something LSU is willing to gamble on the NCAA being incompetent.... this board will be epic this fall.

The NCAA has nothing to do with a university’s accreditation

I'm not saying we won't get severe penalties. I'm saying we won't lose accreditation. That's ridiculous.
The NCAA is corrupt, unpredictable and inconsistent. But, there's no way I can see it going that far if situations that were much worse didn't get that big of a penalty.

Yep.

It is and sadly it is everywhere. So many men are quick to deflect and discredit women's allegations... that's why pieces of shite like Nassar got away with his criminal lifestyle for so long...
Athletic Departments go very far to cover up sex crimes. Your school could be exposed next.

why the frick are colleges conducting criminal Investigations
Same reason workplaces do. I dont know why this is a hard concept to grasp, but colleges - especially given the student housing situations - can be held legally and financially responsible for failing to keep their students safe.
Title IX, while you might disagree with how it goes about its goal, is there to protect the government’s interest (public higher education) and ensure administrations are properly protecting themselves, their students, and, ultimately, taxpayer’s investments.
Our criminal justice system is very weak at successfully prosecuting rape and sexual violence. It’s a major flaw in our system, and it’s honestly not easy to fix without other repercussions.
Universities and employers being strict on this type of thing helps fill in that hole in our imperfect system.

The tennis coaches should’ve been canned last year when this news broke and Ausberry/Segar and probably a few others in the Administration should’ve been terminated immediately after Husch/Blackwell report was released. What’s the holdup in cutting these employees?
Completely agree with this. Everyone part of this needs to go, even that recruiting director trying to deflect from her own involvement by suing the school as well. Start fresh, take whatever sanctions you get, and be better going forward.

Oh I know, didn't mention that in my post. Just seemed like LSU is kinda being lackadaisical about the situation.

Ausberry and Segar should be terminated.

Who’s ultimately responsible for these decisions? Their decision making makes me think they know their demise is coming.

Why don't we have a stickied thread charts and shite?

I honestly have no clue.

It makes me think the opposite or maybe they have no idea what's coming is a better way to put it. Seems like if the knew they were doomed that they would be firing anyone and everyone to try to get ahead of it.

Well if the allegations of intentional, active coverup are to believed, then I would assume a terminated individual would try to implicate higher ups to shift blame.
It’s all a little out of the ordinary, this business. Even in public institutions like LSU, higher ups having something like this happen on their watch is usually a cut-and-dry, fair-game termination case.
The light punishments imply wrongdoing. Why not go all the way?
