2014: Neither LSU nor Auburn in contention (Alabama wins division)
2013: Alabama-Auburn decided division (note: LSU finished 3rd in West)
2012: Alabama-LSU decided division
2011: Alabama-LSU decided division
2010: Neither LSU nor Alabama in contention (Auburn wins division)
2009: Neither LSU nor Auburn in contention (Alabama wins division)
2008: Neither LSU nor Auburn in contention (Alabama wins division)
2007: Neither Auburn nor Alabama in contention (LSU wins division)

Summary: LSU-Alabama had decided the division twice (2011, 2012). Auburn-Alabama has decided the division once (2013). The rest of the years, two of the three teams were not actually in a position to win the division.

Conclusion: The impact of both rivalries is overstated.

Actually, LSU-Alabama decided the West the very next year in 2012. Your claim is factually incorrect.

2012 was a very impactful game. LSU was 1 screen pass from the SEC championship. frick Yeldon.

2011 obviously, but not 2012? LSU was ranked #5 or so going into the game, and would have won the West and likely overall SEC title had we held onto the lead for that final minute.

Somebody gets it. LSU could have played for the title in 2012 by beating Bama. Of course, Georgia might have had something to say about that.

I think any of those three teams beats ND handily.

Since 2007, Bama has won the Iron Bowl 36-0, 42-14, and 49-0. Auburn has been inconsistent, at best, over the last 8 years. I'd have to go with LSU-Bama, on average, each game has been within a touchdown.
+1

LSU-Bama has been a tough match since '07 when NS returned. IMO, LSU is consistantly more physical and tougher match-up for Bama every single year.

2013 was the only time they met when BOTH teams had a national championship or even a conference championship berth on the line. I can say the same thing about the LSU-Alabama rivalry

You can say you're the king of England, too, but that wouldn't be true, either. Both LSU and Alabama had SEC and national championship prospects on the line in at least two seasons (2011 and 2012), and as posted earlier, arguably a few more.
