Which has had more of an impact since Saban's return to CFB?

Both have had some fricking awesome games. 3 combined have decided the national championship participant/winner.

Impact? I believe LSU-Bama has had an impact every year. Especially, from a competitive standpoint. There's been one or two scrimmages in which Bama destroyed Auburn since Saban's return.

However, the Auburn-Alabama series since Saban has returned has been more exciting

That's a really good question. I'd probably go LSU-Bama solely because they played in the national title, but the Iron Bowl in 09 comeback in 2010, and kick-six were 3 of the best games you could possibly hope for as a college football fan. Last year's game was great too.

LSU-Bama had that two year stretch though with game of the century 1 and 2, and then the pass to Yeldon.

Overall, I think the Iron Bowl has had higher quality games, but LSU-Bama has had a slightly bigger impact. I think you can easily argue both sides.

Auburn had 2 shitty seasons in a row until CGM came along. Didnt even scratch the surface of impact. Record against = less impact. If LSU was 9-0 going into that game every year but they still lost....would that make it any less important? No.

Record against =/= Less impact.

Aunurn had a couple great seasons and has been terrible to middling the rest of it. The only years they really impacted the west were 2013 and 2010.

LSU had a couple great years and was decent to very good the rest.

I guess LSU has had more of an impact. Obviously we won SEC and natty in 2007. We upended you in 2010 and 2011, came close to ruining your season in 2012 and 2014.

Beginning of his return, LSU series. Since 21-0, the Auburn series.

I gotta go with the Iron Bowl due to it being the last regular season game of the year.

Auburn and LSU play so early in the season that the loser of that game can easily overcome a loss, like Auburn in 2013. Same can be said for Bama-LSU like in 2011.

If you have a shot at the ship and lose the Iron Bowl on the last weekend of the year there is no coming back from that loss. Also, the Iron Bowl winner went on to represent the SEC in the BCS Championship game from 2010-2013. Twice by Auburn and Twice by Bama, winning 3 of the 4 championships.

Neither. Alabama-Florida has been more impact than both. There was only one year when LSU-Bama played where there was a national championship appearance on the line for both teams. Same thing with Auburn-Alabama. But Florida-Alabama played with a national championship berth on the line in two separate years. Florida-Alabama is the last time when Alabama clearly didn't have the upper hand and were considered the underdogs coming into the game. You had the two greatest coaches from their generation going up against each other. It ended one mini-dynasty and started another. And that is why it's the biggest most important rivalry of the Saban era.

I disagree with the number of years a national championship berth was on the line going into the Iron Bowl.

Just in the 4 year span I mentioned:

Without the Camback Au doesn't go to the ship in 2010.

Bama never would have gotten another shot at LSU in the ship in 2011 without winning the Iron Bowl.

Auburn had already lost to LSU in 2013. Without winning the Iron Bowl. There is no way Auburn would have went to the ship against FSU.

Only one of those schools out of LSU and Auburn has won two SEC Championships and one NC during Saban's return, and been to another NC Game.

LSU has to start beating Bama to be considered impactful.

Right now it's like saying Bama over Tennessee is impactful
