can i start naming things within 1:45 radius of New Orleans since you have tap danced all the way here from this statement in defense of Auburn being in BFE (it is)

Please do, it has been a few years. I remember Camp Shelby MS being somewhere in that circle. I like Gulfport, but it goes back to the same issues you used for Vegas. Help me out.

What reason do you visit BR ? It is LAs version of Montgomery.

You have to give both fanbases credit, they do not want to travel to see their team suck. The days of blind loyalty are over now the the quality of HDTVs have improved to the point you can pay for one with one away game weekend.

depends on how long it takes to get to 85. That could differ by 45 minutes depending on the time of day. That's also assuming you live in the hood of South ATL
Traffic, yes, you have to plan around that. But no, I regularly made the trip from Auburn to Vinings (NW Atl) in 1:30.

a matter of degree

Yes, I disagree with you that the airport adds enough numbers to push it past NO as a more popular tourist destination. I agree that the airport probably inflates some numbers but not to the degree that NO is actually more popular were you to remove the people who only visit ATL on a connecting flight.

quote:

I literally never argued otherwise. Are you making up arguments?

It was the point I was hinting at when posting that list as a reply to an LSU fan. I never said you made that argument.

quote:

I just said Atlanta is where it is on that list because of the airport.

That's inaccurate. Read the second article I linked, those are round trip flights listed from data collected by Expedia, not connections. Atlanta comes in at 10th in the country while NO is not listed though I imagine it's somewhere close after ATL.

quote:

People don't vacation in Atlanta.

This gets in to my point about Atlanta being a huge magnet for regional tourists while NO is more of a medium-sized magnet for national tourists.

Is Atlanta a conventional vacation destination for your Midwestern Will-it-play-in-Peoria type everyman tourists?

No, the hordes of Ohioans are still packing up their minivans bound for Orlando every summer...but Atlanta gets tons of weekend tourists from TN, AL, SC, NC, and rural GA to go to Braves games, or to the Aquarium, or different Museums and attractions. It also gets a massive amount of convention and conference traffic.

Those people are still tourists.

How does LSU suck if we beat Auburn last year?

You have no room to talk when you lost to said team that “sucks”

Are LSU fans excited about the upcoming year ? If they are, I haven't seen it. Everything in July-August is fan perception.

Yep, still not my argument. I didn’t say that.

More people go to Atlanta. They don’t go for vacation though. They go because of the airport, cheap flights, tons of conventions space, and business. Or for major sporting events.

No one from out of state says “man, let’s all go to Atlanta for a weekend to have fun for no reason” or “let’s havd our anniversary/wedding/vacation in Atlanta”.

Most LSU fans are actually excited. Burrow coming gave us some hope on offense. The Auburn game being so early in the season, a 2:30 kickoff and the price of $125 for nose bleeds are why we didn’t sell our allotment.

Plus it’s two weeks after the Miami game in Dallas. Most are gonna do that for a road trip instead of Auburn.

We like to party and tailgate for a prime time night game. 2:30 in September sounds like HELL

Actually, Auburn is one of the better road trips in the SEC.

One of a kind pregame and good fans at the games. Very generous for the most part. All programs have a few drunk asshat fans.

You are out of touch with what is going on in this country. Atlanta is now the vacation destination for Afro-Americans from the north. Many want to move there. The demographic of the entire state has changed in that direction the last 20 years. Look for a Democratic Governor in November.

I didn't say you said that, I was speaking generally and going back to my point in posting the list.

So you're talking about vacationers not tourists then. Cool, that isn't what I was arguing.

Once again, read the second article I linked, it's round trip flights with ATL as the destination, not the origin.

quote:

No one from out of state says “man, let’s all go to Atlanta for a weekend to have fun for no reason”

Now I know you're trolling because I've heard that exact statement many many times.

nice. I once went to a game in auburn, stayed in atlanta and had so much fun I just didn't want to make the drive down for the game. that was also pre GPS days so I was not sure I could even find it village.

Watch what happens on Stubhub if Miami wins that game. LSUs season of fan support is on a razor thin knife.

Yea I don’t buy the 230 thing at all. I love that time slot.

LSU just knows they’re gonna lose. It’s that simple
