LSU and Bama being in the same division hurts college football to an extent.

Even if one is just in the East, they would meet up in Atlanta most years for exciting games.

In different conferences, they would constantly meet in the CFP.

I believe they've met as top ten opponents more than any other two programs the past 20 or so years, but could be wrong. They are definitely up there in that ranking.

But the problem is that after they meet, the losing program (usually LSU) struggles to maintain focus as it would appear that the main goals for the season have come to an end.

Imagine if these two didn't have to face each other in the beginning of November.

Are you on drugs? LSU has averaged finishing third in the SECw the last ten years. That’s with two 1st place years. LSU has averaged 3-4 losses per year... they have lost games to TA$M, Ole Miss, Mo, State, Fla, Ala, Aub . You think LSU is on a par with Alabama? You think they would usually play in Atlanta? Ir meet for tne NC many years? OMG...

This is the most delusional LSU post I’ve seen in a long time, and that is saying something. But unfortunately I know many a LSU fan that actually believes this shite... It is probably a result of either inbreeding or sheer lack of knowledge or awareness of the rest of the world.

Holy shite.... when Charlie Mac retired he had some things to say about their fans. One was, “they need to get out more.” That was an understatement.

This sounds like an Auburn thread trying to get to the East.

Which is hilarious because Auburn is 8-13 vs the East since expansion

Well hell, why stop there? Why not just move to the ACC and play a patsy schedule like Clemson’s every year?

We don’t entertain ideas like this because SEC teams don’t think like this.

Actually, I agree, I think on more than one occasion they were the two best teams and would have had epic post-season meetings, but typically LSU lost and was no longer in the hunt. To a lesser degree, Alabama and Georgia will have the same problem

Florida is the team from the east that wins the division the most. In fact since the 92 expansion, UF has won their division 13 times, same as Bama.
Bama has 9 of the 17 west wins and UF has 7 of the 12 east wins.

I enjoy the discussion but the thing is neither LSU nor Bama wants to go to the east. And from what I can tell Auburn fans are split on it. I do remember Les Miles complaining about having to play UF as their permanent cross division rival game. But LSU seems ok with it now. It seems like everybody but about half of Auburn fans are happy.

Idk about that. Why wouldnt anyone want to go to the east?

I mean it would be a somewhat easier path more years then not. I think that's starting to change though

You think the grass is greener but it isn't. The east vs west record is 17-12 in the game. Saban has 9 wins between 2 schools. The only reason the west has an edge is because it is where Saban coaches. The divisions are about as even as can be reasonably expected. The east would actually be the stronger division, if one of their traditional powers could ever get their mojo back.(UT).
