I agree, but having your QB cry like a baby like AJ did in Tiger Stadium in 2012 would qualify.
Comeback win on the road to keep our championship hopes alive in a game we probably had no business winning.
quote:

Having your head coach leap into the arms (like a freshman cheerleader) of AJ after beating a two loss LSU team last year would also qualify.
Probably the best we had been playing all year.

quote:

The obsession with stocking his team with La. players would also qualify IMO. Bama has 9 players from La., but if you follow recruiting he wanted to sign nearly half of the players on the LSU roster.
Bama, LSU, and most of the rest of the SEC recruit pretty much the same players every year. No shite we wanted to sign quite a few of the players on LSU's team.
quote:

Bama can feel the historic balance of power shifting to LSU and feels helpless to stop it.
quote:

I am really enjoying the intensity of this series now, but when little Nicholas retires Bama will return to being just slightly better than MSU (see 1983-2006).
Do you not realize how good we still were during that period?
quote:

I agree that this game is not a rivalry and Bama should go back to trying to win the Iron Bowl. Auburn owns that series going back into the 90's.
Alabama was 7-3 against Auburn in the 90s.

I don't care about national perception
LSU-Bama is not the highest rated game every year anyway. Not if you go by actual tv ratings. I know the Iron Bowl was the highest rated college game of the entire regular season back in 2010. Not positive, but I believe that was case last year as well

I disagree. As I pointed out in my original post in this thread, it is a rivalry that has everything to do with NS and how badly LSU fans want to beat him and how badly he wants to beat LSU. Bama fans rarely acknowledge the latter part of the equation.

That's not a rivalry though. Rivalries are two-sided affairs not just one. I acknowledge many in your fanbase hate us for Saban, NCG and other reasons.... however why should we hate you?

I like Les Miles, I like your team. Before I signed on the Rant and saw all the vitriol for Alabama, I use to hope you guys would represent the conference if we couldn't.

I literally hate Tennessee. Auburn is lil bro. Maybe if like this continues for another 10 years of us blocking your road to championships a lil bro thing would develop; however as of right now this is just a huge game between respected competitive teams.

Not saying we want to be rivals with y'all, but to sit here and act like Bama doesn't care about this game is pretty laughable when everyone on your team and coach keep saying they enjoy this rivalry. The winner of this game in the last 8 years has produces 3 national champions and one year the winner lost in the championship to the loser. It's a pretty significant game on the college football landscape every year. Beat Bama! Geaux Tigers!!

I agree with this. But there are several quotes saying your team doesn't see it as just a competitive game. They see it as a rivalry. I hope this game continues being great. Love the atmosphere that is about to be created in Baton Rouge in about 3 hours.

Can you read?

Point to me one sane Gump who has said we don't care about this game?

We have repeated over and over this is a important competitive match the past five years. It is just not a rivalry yet.

A significant game for five years doesn't equate to a rivalry.

An Auburn fan posting this is just priceless! I'm not sure that the human experience can present a bigger example of hypocrisy than this.

I admit I'm old-school and have never cried for any sporting event. Not for the BCS Titles in 2003 and 2007 and not for the total embarrassment of the 0-21 loss in the 2011 BCSNC game.

Probably the best we had been playing all year.

Once again, I don't get jumping into the arms of your QB. Totally beta IMO. I can't imagine that the great Bear Bryant ever did such a thing.

LSU doesn't recruit Al. as hard as Bama recruits La. for obvious reasons: Two SEC schools and a history of shady tactics in the state for starters. NS knows he will have trouble beating LSU if he can't get a few of these louisianimals he so covets.

quote:

Bama can feel the historic balance of power shifting to LSU and feels helpless to stop it.

Laugh now but when little Nicholas retires I see you going back to battling OM, Arky and MSU for the bottom of the SEC. For now, I love this series.

No sir, I don't.

was just in Mizzouri this week - not one single person gave a shite about Bama vs LSU this week. i think you over-exaggerated the national expectations of the game.

Nobody is acting like t isn't a big game or doesn't mean anything. It still isn't a rivalry. Sure it is more so a rivalry to the players on the field, bit in the grand scheme of alabama, it isn't a rivalry

Only way this becomes a real rivalry is if you give us a reason to hate you (we don't, sane Gumps at least) and this back in forth extends another decade and a half.

How many sane Gumps are out there? That might be where your perspective is off.

The players understand that this is always a big game for us,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said. “It’s turned into a rivalry game for us."

Lord Saban has spoketh. Any gumpeth who speaks against Lord Saban will be hanged at noon.

“Every year, the calendars are marked for Alabama-LSU,” Alabama center Ryan Kelly said. “Every year, the rivalry grows.”

Your center feels the same way. I think how the people coaching and playing the game feel is probably important in discussing this matter.

It is what it is. It is not the Iron Bowl. It is not the The Third Boring Week in October. But it is an exciting rivalry game according to Nick Saban, his players and onlookers across the nation. I just enjoy the game whether people call it a rivalry or not (but many do now).

Rule 47, if you have to write an article proclaiming it as a rivalry, it isnt
- Saban has been a Bama fan for 8 years, he doesn't set who our rivals are
