And we find Lou Holtz fanging Coach Kelly?

Two weeks ago, Lou Holtz must have been thinking (but not saying) this?

Not sure which is more shocking, the fact that Holtz is butthurt or holds back his real thoughts.

Well I think I can speak to what Lou is saying and How Kelly views thing. Like Lou, and Kelly, I am Catholic and my wife is Catholic and I will die one. However Lou is much more of lets say a Catholic who not only embraced coaching ND Football, but saw himself as making sure Notre Dame kept to its Catholic mission theologically, etc. He embraced the Catholic identity of the University and wanted to strengthen it.

Kelly on the other hand probably saw it as a football job. His job as a Coach was to win football, it was up to the the Holy Cross Order who run ND and the Theologians to maintain the Catholic Theological mission of the University, etc.

Then what would be the right reason?

Cool! Then no one in the SEC should be worried, and all the Kelly threads can stop now.

Being a kid in Arkie as a hillbilly back in the 1970's, I'll always be thankful for the 1976 Orange Bowl in which he bitch-slapped #1 Chokelahoma. That said, this is how I will forever remember the man.

He was the winningest coach in their history for a reason. He didn’t consume himself with all that bullshite. At this point the guy has plenty of money, he wants a fricking championship. Which they haven’t won in eons. Cry me a fricking River Lou Holtz….

Can someone please still give me a legit reason why he won’t get it done at LSU? Can someone give me a great reason besides the fact that he is money hungry supposedly, doesn’t fit in culturally etc.? shite is getting old and just proves this is a good hire since y’all can’t think of anything else.

money helps but if senile lou can't see that you can't compete in the playoffs with a program like notre dame, I don't know what to tell him.

Kelly is a very solid hire for LSU. It's certainly a low risk hire in that it's hard to see him not consistently having Top10 caliber teams (after maybe a period of "culture change" as he does strike one as a my way or the highway type).

The one thing Holtz says that does seem a common sentiment among ND fans was that he just never seemed close to narrowing the gap between Top10 and able to square up against #1 or #2.

That "getting it done" at LSU isn't going 10-2 but consistently losing to Georgia or Alabama et al by 3 touchdowns is the question mark.

What did Lou accomplish at Notre Dame which Kelli didn't?

Hell, compared to Kelli.

You may not like him because he sounds goofy and has a tiny head, but he brought Notre Dame a natty. Kelli simply... didn't.

And who on our radar besides Riley, has a good top 10 win record? Even his is questionable and the coach before him at Oklahoma. Who out there has a better top 10 record that we could have attained?
