Eh not really, y’all could win for 10 years straight and still not have a series lead.

Well, I'm pretty sure we've almost halved the difference in the last 20 or so years, so it actually is shrinking rather quickly.
The head to head record is literally the one metric UT is better than OU in (other than total wins which is meaningless since schools have played different numbers of games since the 19th century), so it'll be nice to see that go away.
As for this weekend, UT could definitely win--playing highly ranked teams OOC seems to be much easier for them than playing OU.

Explain to me why you think they WON'T frick it up this weekend LOL. You all obviously haven't been around them long enough if you think this weekend is a slam dunk win.
Wolverines by 10. frick Texas!
Texas now has a patch on their shirts that scares the living shite out of BIG10 teams. South Carolina has worn that patch into bowl games against teams from the BIG10 and you'd have thought it was Alabama beating the shite out of those teams. That patch is a magical talisman that strikes fear into the hearts of programs from the Midwest and they wind up getting their asses whupped way more often than not. If that patch weren't there Texas loses a close one....with that patch they win by double digits.

Where are you seeing that exactly?
frick both teams, I’m rooting for an asteroid to land on the Big House.
Well yeah, that goes without saying. The likelihood of some sort of cataclysmic stellar event, while certainly preferable, renders it impractical....seeing 2 despised programs suffer equally is not likely....but seeing Michigan go down? Now that is an image which will warm the cockles of just about every football fan in the nation. Michigan can not lose often enough or by enough points to satisfy most CFB fans. Texas is the lesser of 2 evils. Taking an asteroid out of the mix it is slightly better for everyone but Michigan for Texas to beat Michigan. Texas is going to be their insufferable prick selves either way....better that they have something to beat their chest about when they start racking up losses in the SEC than for Michigan to already start the ball rolling....

Because Michigan lost their HC and all of their good players from last year went to NFL or hit the transfer portal. This team is nothing like last season’s team. But, TEX will still act like they beat the 85 Bears if they win.
Texas will act like they beat the '85 Bears if they win or lose. It is what they do. It does no good to poke fun at Texas for losing because they simply never accept a loss. Michigan, on the other hand, will sulk in the corner and suck their thumb when they lose and it is very enjoyable to poke fun at the whiny bastards in the corner sucking their thumb. Texas is going to Texas either way....

I think it has less to do with Texas and more to do with Michigan.
Michigan looked VERY shaky week 1.

Yes we’ve seen UT drop some stinkers in the past (Maryland etc) but they almost always show up for big games.
Don’t make me post your record the last 15 years again.

No doubt about that! They will go insane and anoint themselves world champs of everything! Oh dear Lord they will be insufferable. Yes, they can be worse than they already are!
I understand that OU fans suffer from TDS (Texas Derangement Syndrome) because years and years of kicking Texas' arse all over the Cotton Bowl only to always find that Texas did not lose has left Sooner fans suffering from a disease that fortunately the rest of us do not suffer from. Being second fiddle to a program you are clearly better than will do that to you. All of the bravado and chest beating that comes out of Austin is so much white noise to those of us who have not regularly beat the shite out of Texas only to discover that Texas has never lost a football game in their history....we have Florida, we are accustomed to it. We will not notice any difference. We feel for Oklahoma but rest assured we know that Oklahoma is a better program than Texas even if Texas will never know it....

How many paragraphs are you going to post on this thread?

Michigan is a bad team.
That said, Hogs are going to beat their arse yet again.
The historical record is lopsided in Texas' favor but we've owned them the last 25-30 years.

20 game increments going backwards
TX 8-12 (OU +4)
TX 8-11-1 (OU +3)
TX 10-8-2 (TX +2)
TX 11-9 (TX +2)
Last 80 games
TX 37-40-3
I've done a similar comparison before and it shocks me every single time to see how even it is over 20 year periods.. yes, it gets lopsided sometimes looking at shorter increments, but it evens out. It's also crazy when you consider how close the games have been recently.. 9 of the last 11 decided by 1 score or less..
Both teams have won at least 8 games every 20 years going back to WW2. But you are +7 in the last 40 years, and I don't like that stat, but it is what it is, so congrats..

But all of these things, plus national rankings, is what makes this rivalry special. Yes, haters, I know.. the Iron Bowl is way better.. as is the Egg Bowl.. and every DSOR.. blah blah blah.. The Red River Shootout kicks arse too..
eta: I forgot why I originally posted this.. 20 games ago, the margin was 16.. it's 12 now.. so 4/16 = 25%, not half you bozo..

just don't ask me to go back 25 years.. the math doesn't work so good in that case..

the data.. something interesting..
10 out of the 20 five year periods, one team won at least 4 of the 5 games. Texas did it 4 times, OU did it 6 times. That's a lot of back and forth to end up so close every 20 years.. 40 years.. etc..
Either way, it also shows that the next 5-10 years are pretty important in this rivalry.. Texas needs to turn the momentum back around.

why are OU fans so obsessed with Texas in this thread? Its going to be a great game, end of story.
OU doesnt play anyone with a pulse until Tennesse, which you should win. I think you're a 3-4 point favorite.

And Texas could have beaten that Michigan team and Bama should have beaten them as well that Milroe fumbled changed and the momentum and Bama got away from the run.

But, but...any SEC team could beat the lowly B12 teams any given Saturday...says every overrated SEC fan.
