Looks like we are moving forward with a 7+1 schedule after next year

Everyone is anxious to know how the conference’s future scheduling is going to look. We know how the 2024 season will play out, even if there are no dates attached to the matchups. As for 2025 and beyond? It’s wait-and-see mode.
Well, Saban may have hinted at the SEC choosing to go with the 7+1 model instead of 6+3. He was asked about Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC and expressed how he is in favor of players having the opportunity to play every team in the conference.
“The way we’re gonna do our seven-team rotation, one-team fixed,” Saban began. “I think you’re gonna play everybody every four years, so almost every guy at your school is going to play every team in the conference. Which I think is great as well.”
Saban is not the only coach in the state to potentially let the scheduling model slip. Auburn‘s Hugh Freeze said he will miss playing Georgia recently, fresh off the two playing each other. Freeze may have been the first to hint at the 7+1 and Saban is another data point.
“I’ll miss playing Georgia every year because I just got to experience it for my first time and I loved every minute of it other than the outcome,” Freeze said. “I love competing against those type teams. And so there are some changes coming.”

So it's Auburn for Bama right? It's gotta be Auburn.
Right?
ETA: Should be 8-9 +1 but I digress

Disgusting. I never thought I would see the DSOR series tabled.

This is just so mind numbingly fricking stupid. There is literally no downside to a 6/3 model.
WHO GIVES A shite? Does it make sense to end the oldest rivalry in the south to ensure we get the opporutnity to play arkansas? Shoudl we end the TSIO to make sure bama gets to play kentucky? It's all just incredibly misguided and it pisses me off

The top prospects aren't going to be there for four years anyway either.

It’s dumber than that. They could go to 9 and have both all major rivalries and all teams played in a 4 year cycle. So now we’ll be trading in DSOR, TSIO, Texas/Texas AM etc so we can get SEC teams playing Ball State.

But could be for at least 2 and get to play everyone if they don't transfer.

Surely DSOR will continue as an out of conf game if the SEC is truly this stupid, Uga and Au can keep it going if they truly want to

Just kill this dumb conference already

Agreed. I’d rather play Ole Miss, LSU, Texas and A&M annually as opposed to cycling Georgia or Kentucky on occasionally just to say I got to see them once.

I highly doubt that. We'll have 8 league games plus tech so we've got 3 chances to play a cupcake to help ease our schedule. We already have H/Hs scheduled with UCLA/FSU/Ohio State/and a few more so I can't imagine adding AU as an OOC game to boot.

and I'll tell ya another thing that doesn't make any fricking sense as it relates to this parroted line.
-We're gonna have 16 teams
-So, 15 other opponents you could play in a given year
-Wtih the 3/6, there's 3 permanents on your scheudle so that's 12 other league teams that you coudl have on your scheudle in a given year
-Play 6 one year, the other 6 the next.
The math works out perfectly. You would end up playing every team in the league at least once every 2 years, and at least twice every 4 years. You would play all 12 non-permanents home and away during a 4 year period. I don't know why the fatcats are so hellbent on that not being the best option.

I haven’t folowed the scheduling talk much but does a 6+2 not work logistically? Because it’s going to suck not pkaying, I’m assuming, the TSIO game against Tennessee.
With the 12 team playoff coming I’d be fine with going to a 9 team conference schedule too. Would be tough schedules but contenders could drop a game and still be very alive for the playoff.

the would seem to solve every problem anyone has. All the traditional long-standing rivalries stay intact and you get to play everyone else in the league home and away in a 4 year span. MInd blowing that that cant be agreed on.

The following games of massive historical relevance/importance/whatever you want to say are now no longer going to be played annually all in the name of money:
-UGA/Auburn
-Bama/Tennessee
-LSU/Ole Miss
-Bama/Miss St
-Tenn/Kentucky
-LSU/Florida
-Tenn/Florida
-Bama/LSU
-UGA/SC

We do know. It’s because the SEC won’t give an extra game until ESPN gives more money…and I am not really sure ESPN has more money to give. Or…Disney won’t let them have more money to give?
