Outlook: Losing Chiozza will sting, although replacing him with a 5* isn't too shabby. Interestingly enough, though, there is no frontcourt help on the way. UF will need Kevaughn Allen to have a huge senior season if this team is going to contend. Realistic scenario is bubble team.

Hudson, Allen, Hayes, Stone, Bassett, Okaru, and Ballard will all be back.

Add Nembhard, Locke, Johnson, as well as Stokes (ACL) and Chase back will give this team some depth.

I disagree that this is a bubble team next year. Still think this is a top 4 team in the SEC. Will have better front court depth and better post presence.

I think UF still could finish top 3-4 next year.

I think it's possible that we contend next year but Nembhard is going to have to be the guy right away. More I see from Okauru the more I doubt that he's a lead guard although he's going to be a really good player regardless.

I see us next year as being similar to this year, with all of the same inconsistencies, but with a freshman PG instead of a senior PG. That's a bubble team.

Do Arkansas, I’d like to hear an outside opinion with so much uncertainty.

Arkansas

Departing
Jaylen Barford
Daryl Macon
Anton Beard
Trey Thompson
Arlando Cook
Daniel Gafford??

Incoming
Ethan Henderson (4* PF)
Keyshawn Embry (4* CG)
Reggie Chaney (3* PF)
Isaiah Joe (3* SG)
Jordan Phillips (3* SG)
Desi Sills (3* PG)
Jalen Harris (PG, transfer from New Mexico)

Outlook: Harris will probably start out as the starting PG and CJ Jones should have a much bigger role. Beyond that, who knows? Gafford will have a moster season if he comes back but Arkansas will be completely barren down low if he doesn't. Bubble team if Gafford is back, near the bottom of the conference if he doesn't.

Pigs losing Beard and Barford plus Macon means a lot of offense missing and senior leadership.

They played a late game last night after alreading playing a game so losing to UT is understandable...might do some damage in the big dance...it will be good to see eight SEC teams in it.

Arkansas basically has the entire Arkansas Wings AAU squad joining them next season. According to ESPN, a top 100 prospect, three 4*'s, and two 3*'s.

A lot will depend on what Gafford does. Arkansas should also gain Kahlil Garland, a ESPN top 100 SF that sat out this season, due to medical reasons. He was cleared to play just a couple weeks ago but will redshirt this season.

So newcomers are...according to ESPN....

SF Kahlil Garland 6'6" ESPN Top 100(2017)
PF Ethan Henderson 6'8" ESPN Top 100
PF Reggie Chaney 6'9" 4*
PG Isaiah Joe 6'1" 4*
SG Keyshawn Embery 6'3" 4*
SG Desi Sills 6'2" 3*
SF Jordan Phillips 6'7" 3*
G Jaylen Harris(Transfer)

Return
PF Adrio Bailey(14.0 min/game)
F Daniel Gafford*(22.6 min/game)
F Darius Hall(14.6 min/game)
F Gabe Osabuohien(7.1 min/game)
G CJ Jones(14.9 min/game)

We will have to wait and see what Gafford does. I think Daniel needs another season, and I feel he will be back. He and Portis are very good friends and Portis played his second season at Arkansas and upped his draft stock. It really depends on what kind of tourney Gafford can put together though, IMO. Lots of newcomers next season and it will really depend on how well they mesh together in the early going. Pretty talented group though, overall. In the end, I think Arkansas will end up right in the middle of the SEC race, somewhere around 9-9 in league play and probably fighting for an NCAAt birth at the end of the season.

Unless Arkansas new guys can play much better defense, I can’t see how it won’t be a much worse year next year for us. Too many new, young kids who haven’t gelled together. It’ll take a year to figure each other out.

Next year will be rough for the hogs.

I disagree. Most of these kids have played together for a long while already. If this were a bunch of recruits who were from all over, I would probably agree with you.

Anderson worst team was a couple years ago, and this team next year is much more talented than that squad.

There haven't been any real expectations for basketball in a long time. We either knew we had a coach who couldn't get it done, or when we did make a run players we knew nothing about seemed to come out of nowhere to make it happen. This expectations mess is rare stuff for the past 25 years.

Why do you have Key listed as departing? Thinking he transfers?

VOLS

Departing
James Daniel III
Chris Darrington (likely transfers due to lack of PT)
Jalen Johnson?? (See Darrington though he could be back)

Incoming
Likely a grad transfer guard and a HS guard (Simons would be ideal but seems he’s headed to the NBA)

Return pretty much the same team as this year. Should be preseason top 15. Top 10 if they add Simons or an impact grad transfer.

Martin will probably be in the market for another grad transfer guard, but he needs a big hit this time, or Silva will probably spend his last season playing in the NIT.

Martin's inability to recruit decent talent is becoming a serious liability. He usually finds a gem in each class (Silva, Minaya, Kotsar), but he can't close local kids, especially guards, worth a damn.

Ogbeide also returns for uga. If we can make a quality coaching hire and pull Hagans back into the fold, we could actually have a pretty decent squad
