It doesn't. It's barely a niche sport. The only reason LSU does so well at it is because the vast majority of schools don't try at it and don't care. LSU was getting hammered in the big sport, football, in the 90's, so they decided to throw an idiotic amount of resources, and put retarded emphasis on it. They figured out since no one else really tried at college baseball, that if they did, they could be better than everyone else at it by default.

This is quite possibly the most ignorant set of sentences that someone posted on this board in a while. The idiocy of suggesting that the majority of schools "don't try at it" and "don't care" is sheer lunacy. The parity in college baseball over the last decade and especially in the last few years strongly disputes your claim that the majority of schools "don't care" and "don't try".

I consider their to be 3 main sports in college athletics. Football is the biggest and is on a level all it's own. Basketball is below that and then baseball below that.

Yes, and there's a much larger relevance gap between basketball and baseball than between football and basketball:

FOOTBALL>>Basketball>>>>>>>>>>baseball

Not sure how I could be jealous over a sport that I hate and wouldn't watch even if my team was elite. Then again I don't run around saying it doesn't matter. It apparently matters to some of you.

It does to some, primarily LSU fans, and it infuriates them that it doesn't to most.

And basketball only matters in March (and early April if you're being a technical a-hole). I'd gladly trade one of our NCAA titles in that for another SEC title in football.

At least show Alabama's finished product for the new Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

what I find hilarious, is if bama was as good as LSU or any other CWS team, Bama fans would be all over that shite. Even when bama was shite but playing for the sec tournament championship 4 or 5 years ago hoover was packed with bama fans. Auburn does the same thing, if they are bad they won't watch if they are good they watch.

Back in the '90s, believe me, they were. All over that shite, I mean. Not as good as LSU.

But they were in the CWS multiple times and even reached the title game in '97. They used to rock the stadium at the SEC Tournament, too.

I would have if I could have been sure that was it. Did a quick Google images search and it was hard to tell which pics were from which time, so I decided to use the construction pic to illustrate that they were spending $$$ to improve it.

If Auburn is good at softball we watch. That doesn't mean softball is important. It means we like our school and will watch any sport where we have a chance to win something. I don't watch hockey, but I watch USA hockey. A lot of people don't like soccer at all, but they watch USMNT soccer when it's the world cup or even gold cup.

I think it'd be cool if AU was really good at baseball. But the idea that the rest of the conference is somehow jaded and bitter about LSU's college baseball success is laughable.

That's not specific to any fanbase. LSU basketball for instance.

Completely. It's actually the opposite, they are jaded because no one cares about college baseball so they don't get the attention or respect they think they deserve.

But they'd be upset either way.

They like that college baseball is a largely "unique" thing for LSU, at least in terms of enthusiasm. I'm not saying college baseball isn't a solid NCAA sport, but the reason they're the best FANS in college baseball is because nobody else is trying (which is different than talking about baseball programs themselves, where schools obviously do try). It's very Cardinals-like.

If we all cared, they'd whine that they weren't as special anymore.

When we don't care, they care that they're winning in something most of us aren't all that bothered with.
