I think a lot of people feel he screwed over LSU basketball and bent the knee to the NCAA when he probably didn’t need to. Other programs ignored the NCAA and it worked out for them. Did he do it to protect the football program, which had some issues at the time too?
Most fans do feel that way and rightfully so. The playbook was exclusive and well written which every other program used except one, LSU. That’s why I believe most fans are even more upset about the situation today. Let’s be real honest here, with Wades popularity coupled with the teams success, a new AD looking at the situation objectively understands this was a small obstacle in the road and standing up for the head coach is best for the program. Unfortunately, Woodward chose to make it more about himself and possibly the couple short days of having to read a negative sports article from Yahoo sports.
He chose wrong because he didn’t spend the necessary time to understand the strong player/head coach relationship and the fan/head coach relationship dynamic that was established prior to him even being named AD. What’s worse is maybe he did understand all this and did it anyway. Either way he deserves all scrutiny he’s receiving right now for basketball.

The blatant truth in regards to current LSU MBB and Will Wade is that the vast majority of the sports fan base has feelings of real resentment to the current AD and Administration as a whole.
An extremely an overwhelmingly popular head coach was terminated for operating in a “gray area” along with every single other collegiate program.
Now, in real time our fan base has to endure watching our recently proud, successful and exciting basketball team resemble the exact same rock bottom existence from which Will Wade resurrected it from…. All while watching him successfully operate a mid major program 2 hours away beating a blue blood on their home court.

It’s easy to look good against the sisters of the poor but just wait until they play a team with a pulse.
My dude…. They just beat a team who was the #1 team in the country the last 1/3 part of the season… With LSU being #1 pre-season and for 13 weeks until WF took it from them.
LSU just beat that same #1 Wake Forest team twice after playing them 3 times in 4 days…. Oh, and to get the honor of getting to play an undefeated WF team now LSU only had to beat little ole Tennessee two freaking times.
It’s just not even worth talking about what went on with #1 seed in their bracket Florida bc the fricking men LSU left on base is too much and a deal breaker. So frick it, they did ok beating elite teams and held up the trophy us fans think about and some probably even pray for. I think that deserves at a minimum 5 min of positivity about the team while celebrating, ESPECIALLY LSU’s baseball coach.

I mean right… His wording is so deliberate and sincere which is causing me to really wonder about this guy.
I mean this is a big win for South Carolina and LSU was out of sinc from the start. It’s just ridiculous that we have fans in all sports who lose their shite after a loss. But losing your mind going after Johnson who has our team at #1 at the mid season point is incomprehensible.

Need to throw some NIL money at the 2 starters USM have used so far. We would be a top 5 seed with those kids as 1-2 on our staff.
I was thinking pretty much the same thing during the game tonight. It’s the small piece to the puzzle that’s missing on this LSU team. Having a 1 & 2 that’s similar to what USM puts on the mound would have had an enormous impact on this years LSU team and drastically improving their conference record.
Just having a couple elite aces really takes the pressure off the hitters and an offense like LSU has really takes the pressure off your teams aces.
Simply put … If LSU had USM’s #1 & #2 pitchers , then errors be damned b/c having a couple 1st round MLB picks on the mound as starters and hitters 1 thru 9 in the line-up who are game changers, then you’re a tough team to handle.

I agree… they’re showing some mettle and it’s a fun thing to watch.

For fricks sake… You mean “most” of them are miserable.
That train is never late …
I admit that this game got away from them pretty quick but they still aren’t going home to BR if they lose.

He hit .400 in conference play and is taking left handed swings for the first time in a month, and swings in general for the first time in 2 weeks.
These reactive people on here tonight have no clue what they’re talking about regarding Berry. Like you said the dude is swinging left handed for the first time in a month and probably still has a bum middle finger on his right hand.
He only batted nearly .400 in SEC play and if he hadn’t been out with a hand injury he’d most likely be hitting around .400 with 20 or so homers just like Crews.
Yes, Crews is a different talent all together but to say Berry isn’t a high 1st round pick this year in the draft is asinine.
re: No shot with this pitcher

It will look pretty bleak through the lineup the first time most likely… But once they see him the second and third time then they get on him a lot better.
LSUs hitters are very good , they will eventually adjust to him.

Unfortunately… He was hit by a pitch on his only remaining good hand. :yack:
re: I never saw Todd Walker play at LSU
Posted by OPTIMAX CAT on 5/20/22 at 6:48 pm
I was a young teen when Todd Walker played for LSU and we split season tickets with a family member. Watching LSU baseball in the nineties at the Box was awesome but especially if you were a young kid who loved playing baseball.
I mean the guy hit with an avg. over .400 as a Freshman. By the time he left LSU he was the SEC All Time Leader in Hits, Runs Scored and I think RBI’s too.

You have coaches tampering with players that aren’t in the portal. Professional sports leagues don’t even allow that. It’s usually a massive fine when teams are caught. I
Yeah you’re exactly right, the NFL is a structured business with the organization and the players acting as employer and employees.
Most of us knew this would end up this way b/c the reasons AGAINST the NIL/Portal greatly outweigh the reasons FOR the NIL/Portal. These young players are easily enticed with big money from large programs who have deep pocket Alumni/Boosters that have Zero qualms with throwing mega cash at the country’s elite prospects.
The NCAA now has a big problem that’s getting even bigger everyday and it’s extremely upsetting for life long college football fans…. Because everyone knows that they can’t put the toothpaste back into the tube now.

re: Dingers, just can’t field
Posted by OPTIMAX CAT on 4/22/22 at 12:30 am
I agree, atleast Berry stays down on hard hit balls while making a strong throw to 1st most of the time. I mean the dude looks way more comfortable at 3rd rather than RF. He’s going to blow up a play here or there defensively but you take those in stride when he’s your hottest All American hitter.
The entire infield (especially middle) has been just as much of a problem and possibly more error wise and none of those players contribute offensively in the way that Berry does.

re: For four years Pat Forde targeted WW for offering Smart's high school coach.
Posted by OPTIMAX CAT on 3/18/22 at 5:50 pm
Shannon Forman was probably the biggest influence and teacher in Smart”s life. He was not only Javonte’s longtime basketball coach but he was a close friend of his whole family. Wade came in and quickly knew the importance that Forman played in Smart’s recruitment decision and his development as a player.
Wade did what he thought was necessary to keep Javonte out of Kentucky and stay home to play basketball 5 minutes from his childhood home. He looked at Smart as a “must have” as the new head coach at LSU. Not bc of his impact on the court necessarily but Smart was exactly the type of player that he must convince to stay home and play for LSU if he was to be a successful head coach at LSU.
