Hugh Freeze, Auburn's head football coach, has been actively playing golf, with reports indicating he's played over 20 rounds this year and 10 in the first 20 days of June alone. This has sparked some discussion, particularly as Auburn's 2026 recruiting class has seen some decommitments recently. While some fans are concerned about the time spent on the golf course during a critical recruiting period, Freeze also participates in charity events and enjoys the sport as a way to relax.

But muh cancer.

I am starting to wonder if this new era of college football we find ourselves in is going to hurt more than help the Auburns of the world.

If the 20m salary cap or whatever is actually enforced (which I highly doubt will happen) that would help but yes, in a world of free for all unlimited pay for play that is going to make it next to impossible for relatively smaller schools like Auburn to compete with behemoths like Texas, Texas AM, Ohio State etc..

In his last year, when it was obvious that Auburn was going to dump him, Harsin had the 55th ranked recruiting class. Currently ranked 89th, Hugh has some work to do.

All he was looking for was a money bag. Congrats to Auburn.

Freeze is very loyal to his QBs. I’m surprised he took Arnold in the Portal. I remember saying he should look at Cam Ward when he jumped in the portal, but Freeze was so loyal to Thorne.

The most important statistic in recruiting is where you are in July.

That is when it matters.

Not on signing day.

We talkin bout summer.

Not the day. Not the day that we give our attention to.

I know Hugh posed to be there. He know it too.

But we talking bout summer?

Come on man.

We're pretty good on recievers so apparently they thought he was worth more than we were willing to pay.

Auburn not bringing in Spencer Sanders is still a head scratcher to me. He would’ve won that team 2-3 more football games in his final collegiate season. That being said, I’ve enjoyed watching Hugh Freeze fail on the plains. The best is yet to come. They’ll completely bottom out the next two seasons.

You got that backwards.

Mathews was pretty confident he was going to get an LSU offer.

If he didn't have an LSU offer Tiger fans should be asking: Why not?

He is a good player and it is a shame he didn't want to do his schoolwork at Texas A&M. But any team ought to be able to find a way to keep him eligible for one season.

. I honestly don't know how I will make it without a great football team played by teenagers. It will be tough.
