Riley took every single assistant coach with him. Something isn't right in Norman.

But it’s not about that.

It’s about money.

So now what? On any given year you’ll have 6 programs or more in the SEC that have the resources and talent to potentially make a playoff. But there are still only 4 spots? How is it that fair?

I mean, it’s fair because the SEC did this to itself. The SEC sold out for the cash. Traditions and rivalries may take a small hit, but it’s all about the money. It’s not the Pac-12s fault, nor the ACC’s that Sankey sold out.

While I agree with your perspective, I also believe that it will even more likely that 2 SEC teams get into the playoffs even with just 4 teams.

Sankey is the worst commish of the SEC ever. He is only looking at what ESPN offers in terms of short term money and has no care about the long term effects.

The SEC is cashing out.

This X 1,000,000

Adding 2 more powerful teams to the conference was the wrong move!

Riley will do the exact same thing at USC that he did at OU, be the tallest midget that’s it! They will play nobody make it to the playoffs and get smoked!

I don’t know why anyone would be crying for Cincinnati, regardless of how this goes down. They play a dogshit schedule. There isn’t a single 10-2 to 8-4 SEC team that wouldn’t obliterate Cincinnati in a game.

Playoffs will expand to at most likely 12 and 8 at the least.

That's the part that truly makes no sense. The SEC doesn't get much harder, if and when Oklahoma and Texas show up.

Texas is a team that schools like Arkansas has beat. And MSU, Kentucky, and A&M can beat - and will, as often as not.

Frankly - I don't think Oklahoma is much better. The league is getting another Ole Miss - and that's no offense to Ole Miss. Ole Miss has done good this year. But I think their folks will agree they still ain't Alabama or Georgia.

Those two schools coming into the league doesn't change the dynamic of the league. It doesn't get a damn bit harder. And THAT'S why Lincoln Riley left. Not because the SEC got tougher - but because it doesn't the day they step through the door.

Football on the Left Coast is a dying animal. Lincoln will do well but he ain't saving what is coming.

The attendance for the PAC12 teams isn't good and getting worse. UCLA can't draw flies nor does Stanford or USC.

Oregon is ok but they only have seats for 60K.

Several things going on with LR. One is he got his feelings hurt that he was not part of the SEC decision. OU considered that to be a long-term decsision by the President and AD.

In addition, LR's agent was playing LSU so that USC would open the bank vaults and let him bring Grinch and his taco tech buddies.

LR is a brilliant and charasmatic coach. He recruits to him and not to the school. The S&C, Taco Tech buddie is absolutely a guy who is "lets make work outs fun" guy and if you miss a few workouts because you are having a bad day. That is OK. We all have bad days guy.

LR has shown for the last few years that certain types of Defenses he has not been able to figure out -- ISU, Baylor - KSU. Being successful at USC is a much lower bar.

You guys may think it is folly, but OU wants to have coaches that can compete well in the SEC and think they have the brand to do that. LR, with his loyalty to his taco tech buddies and Grinch would have failed and that was becoming more and more apparent in the last couple of years. LR is much more popular with the national fans than he has been with the OU fans the last couple of years

Lincoln Riley saw the writing on the wall. Go to USC, get paid, and have an easier shot a national title. He wanted no part of OU going to the SEC. It’s no secret anymore, the SEC is about to become a super conference.

I really don't think OU and Texas know what they're walking into. Really smart move on Lincoln Riley when you think about it. To go from 10 Big 12 conference opponents(Kansas included) to 16 SEC opponents...yikes. You don't get to play Vandy every year or more than once. I could seriously see OU and Texas falling to the middle of the pack in the SEC West, which isn't where they want to be.

Not entirely true, but what would you do? Wait around for the new HC to come in & let you go?

Riley and some of his staff definitely did not want to go to the SEC. I have to wonder if they were surprised to learn about it. But also, I think Riley sees the NIL situation as a big factor. All kinds of money in Southern California to make it's way to recruits & players.

Which is why I've always advocated for FSU being in the SEC. Because when they get good again (and they will) their path the playoff will be a joke every single year. They have massive advantages over every ACC team except for Clemson.

Bad thing is once the playoffs are expanded the Committee will do what they do in Baseball and match a bunch of SEC teams up against each other so its not just an all SEC final 4 or so

No he did not. He took his taco tech buddies and Grinch. I have already stated why him taking his taco tech buddy S&C guy was a good thing. There was big pressure for him to fire that guy anyway

When he came to the team meeting to tell the team with tears in his eyes, Demarco yelled several obscenties to him. So did Nic Bonitto, the OU linebacker. It got ugly.

Oh it's a brilliant move on his part. He will get paid and be the biggest midget in the Pac 12. Most of us with any sense were getting wary of the lack of player development and knew his style was not going to bode well in the SEC anyway. Depending on the man they hire to replace Riley, this should be a win/win for all parties.

It is a curiosity that he took a dump on LSU before taking the USC job.

He could have simply declined to answer those questions, taken the USC post, and left.

But no, first he chose to make it clear to the college football world that he wasn't going to LSU.

Why?

Is that an SEC jab? An LSU jab? Or is he just a f'ing football coach that doesn't put in a great deal of thought before opening his mouth?

For L.A.'s size and history their skyline is sort of meh. But yeah, the fans out there could care less about college football.
