Y'all might not have been fresh and ready but I would take emotional offensive games vs La Tech and Ole Miss over defensive battles vs USCe and UF. How close the game is isn't the only factor. The brutality of LSU vs Bama, LSU vs UF, and LSU vs USCe was a lot greater than TAMU vs La Tech and TAMU vs Ole Miss

Exactly, there's a difference. This isn't Big12 score until the time runs out football. Injuries, and just physical football wears you down.

So with this logic the fact we had #6 LSU then Auburn (away) then #15 Mississippi State (away) consecutive weeks before walking into TTown we should have been physically worn down right?

I am a former college athlete and I can assure you when a big game is coming up "being tired" or "worn down" is not even something thats a thought, the adrenaline to compete against a good school on ESPN far supercedes any "brutality" from previous games. The exception being an actual injury.

I was actually trying to have a discussion, Texas. No need to be snarky.

Didnt read thread, but I'd say that there is a decent possibility that the LSU/A&M game will have BCS implications.

So, WHY was A&M able to win that game, at BDS? What's your analysis?

According to fawx, sometimes the lesser team gets the upset.

What's your definition of a beat down? 5 points, really?

"beat down" used in that context meant tired, or emotionally drained, not scoreboard beat down

Ah! So, a beatdown, like what (wait for it) LSU DID TO A&M LAST YEAR!!!! DO I WIN?!?!?!

They call the Bama game a beat down even though it was by the same difference as the LSU game.

Who, me? Only when I have to deal with unreasonable arguments.

TexasTiger actually engaged in a decent discussion. I hope his LSU brethren follow suit.

The truth is that the LSU/A&M game could have gone either way last year, and I will go on record and say that this year's game will probably be about the same (unless some corndog side-walk starts the "figured JFF out" or "JFF gonna get killed" stuff. Then 3TDs starts all over again.).

LSU was a good team last year, but not what they were the year before. I don't know what they will look like this year, but they should be at best, the same team as last year (simply based on who left and what's left, but I am not denying the shitload of LSU talent waiting in the wings). A&M will likely take a step back on defense, but based on the offense last year, the minimal losses, the progress arse the season wore on, and the heisman winner returning to the backfield, A&M should be at least as good as last year.

Thus, the game could go either way.

LSU could have 2-4 losses by then. So for them, probably not.

coulda shoulda woulda

A good friend of mine GUARANTEED me LSU would lose 4 games in 2011, probably 6, and even bet me $200 on it.

He still owes me $200.

To be fair, no one expected you to pull JFF out of your arse.

That's it. A&M by 3 TDs. Because, for every reasonable LSU fan, there are 4....well, you know.

Well, also to be fair, everybody looked at 2011 6-6 results and drew completely fricked up conclusions. We all knew we had some talent, but the guy who lost to Arkansas State in his first game was at the helm, but Sumlin had been very successful at cougar high. There was a lot of talking out of asses on The Rant. Even without JFF, we were a much better team than the 6-6 campaign showed.

anyone who says this game "could" not have bcs implications apparently has not watched college football in some time; lsu will most likely be there and a&m still have some to prove. yes a&m beat bama but still lost 2 other sec games. a 2 loss season would not make you a contender so a&m better start worring about how to improve on their win/loss column before discussing who will be bcs contenders

2011 was on of the worst years as a fan. Clearly better talent the record indicated yet much of it wasted on bad calls and poor conditioning.

I'd not been an angry fan, really ever, until that year. When we lost to OK State and Arky in the manners that we did, I was too mad to watch any other football the rest of the weekends.

brutal.

Losing in that particular way was infuriating.
