IMO, this place is a shithole minus the mountains

Also, stadium is falling apart

you mean a 95,000 stadium that is squeezed to fit an extra 15,000?

Agreed.

Campus is unattractive for the most part, and isolated mountain folk are not a perk.

It’s a very myopic city. People there believe it’s heaven on earth when by any other standard the city, the campus, and the stadium (despite its exaggerated size) are all mediocre. The only real plus is the natural scenery but that can be found in hundreds of other towns around theTennessee-Georgia-Carolina borders. It’s worth visiting once as an opposing fan to say you’ve been but most don’t seem intent on making a return trip.

I think it's a great trip for a football game, but not much outside of that.

It’s terrible. Didn’t a LSU fan get hurt because the stadium collapsed on him?

The problem with towns in the Appalachians is that they're usually industrial and in the fall/winter (football season), rusting, erector-set towns in leafless mountain landscapes can be pretty depressing

that said, Knoxville is a fun-enough city.

The Vol Navy thing is pretty cool. There is a decent bar scene near the campus. The gameday atmosphere is good.

That said, the stadium is horrible. You can't just put the seats closer together and claim expansion. That's about a 90,000 seat stadium realistically.

Knoxville and east TN are nicer than any other region in the SEC and that’s not a dramatic opinion. It’s no mystery why so many vacation in that region of the country..

What kind of shite-hole do you need to be from for Pigeon Forge to be considered a vacation spot? That tells me all I need to know about the OP.

It's a huge mystery to me, considering East TN is like the Disneyland for white trash.

Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, all the same shite to me. I’m from West Africa where we walk 60 miles a day to get clean water
