Let's Talk A&M, how far away are they?

Right now West is dominated by LSU/Alabama and then Arkansas/Auburn on second tier. A&M is above Ole Miss but how much better than State are they? Are they as good as Arkansas and Auburn?

How well are they doing in recruiting now that they jumped to SEC?

Now that football season is around corner I figure I should care about new guys.

They will get stomped this year. But they will get better and be a force in the SEC in a few years. Their O is good. If they can put a stout D together then they can be on par with the big boys of the SEC. So to answer your question...they aren't that far away, if they've hired the right coach.

I think we're going to finish 3rd or 4th in the West this year. But maybe that's just wishful thinking. We'll see.

Agreed (though questions linger a bit around Arky, but I think they'll be solid).

Wouldn't be surprised if we pick off one of those two.

Extremely well, but results on the field this year will determine if that will be an advantage A&M can count on going forward.

I fully expect the Ags to struggle in year 1 in the SEC, but I think we'll play some teams closer than most expect, and maybe even pull off an upset at some point (historically A&M's been good enough for one of those a year lol). Gonna be a very interesting season, to say the least.

Currently even with MSU and slightly behind AU.
In a few years they will be top 2 in the west, if they get good coaching/leadership.

Recruiting has been pretty good. In a few years, I could see AU,Ark, and us having a constant fight for 3 in the west, with one of us knock of Bama or LSU fairly often.

I don't expect anything spectacular this year. I just hope we do decently and can keep our recruits.

The SEC move has put Texas A&M recruiting in a real bind, and I don't know if we'll ever recover. Add in the loss of a dynamic coaching mastermind like Mike Sherman, and I'm predicting some tough rows to hoe in Aggieland this year.

They are probably not as good as state right now, and probably slightly below both auburn and arky. I think in year 3 of the SEC A&M will be a force to be reckoned with for the division title, and in year 4 will be one of the top powers...significantly ahead of arkansas, and not sure yet about auburn, depending on what happens when they run off their current coach.

not sure if serious...i sense the sarcasm......

Looking at the 2013 recruiting classes....a&m is benefitting very nicely from joining the SEC, having one of their best recruiting classes in a long time, maybe ever. Being a part of the SEC should continue to help their recruiting efforts in texas going forward. They do need to focus on defense though, and not be a traditional big 12 team anymore.....i agree that this year will be hard pressed to go 6-6....and probably next as well.

I actually agree with this. A&M will not be down long. I know it's fun to haze the new guy, but don't count them out in a few years. Now they are out from big brother's shadow, they're going to have a chip on their shoulder.

Not sure why Arkansas fans get so pissy at every A&M topic.. They will be much better than state. Sumlin will win a west game this year, Mullen will not.

I think A&M is looking at nothing but upside. I'm
cautious, waiting to see how Sumlins style fits into the SEC, we have yet to see a true air raid team. I don't think petrinos offenses fit the bill. With recruiting going the way it is, a&m is a ticking time bomb.

5-7 win seasons over the next two years, no telling after that.

State has gone 3 years in a row without beating Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU. That will never happen to A&M. It might happen one season every now and then, but most likely it will NEVER happen, and under no circumstances will it happen two years in a row.
