Borrowed from the original rant:

CATEGORY——2023————2024
DEFENSE
TOTAL
GAMES—————13—————12
YARDS—————5416————-4230
PLAYS—————-882—————721

TDs———————47—————34

PASSING
YARDS————-3323—————2471
ATT——————-420—————329
COMP—————268—————-202
INT———————10—————-5
AVG/GAME———255.6————205.9
TDs——————-23——————9

RUSHING
YARDS—————2093————-1759
ATT———————462—————392
AVG/ATT—————4.5—————-4.4
AVG/GAME————161————-146.6
TDs———————-24—————-24

MISCELLANEOUS
3RD DOWN %—-44.8%—————41.2%
4TH DOWN %___43.3%—————38.9%
FUM/LOST______12/4——————19/8
SACKS/YDS——31/185—————-33/207
POINTS————-364———————285
POINTS/GAME—-28.0——————23.75

As for total defense, LSU was 110th in 2023, and 53rd in 2024.

So despite our major holes talentwise, this defense has improved upon 2023 in every statistic, and actually got better as the season wore on.

So sad for our Misery friends, but hiring Blake Baker was indeed a good decision.

If no one cares about a 6-6 Arkansas team, why would anyone care about a 6*-6 LSU team?

So the guy that doesn't care already has 2 of the first 5 posts ITT.

In your defense, you are a fricking retard.

They were certainly better. They weren't great against teams that had any semblance of an offense, but unlike last year every possession those teams had wasn't an automatic scoring drive.

Vs Top 75 FBS Offenses by YPP
#2 Ole Miss - 26 pts, 464 yds
#18 Alabama - 42 pts, 420 yds
#25 Arkansas - 10 pts, 278 yds
#27 USC - 27 pts, 447 yds
#54 South Carolina - 33 pts, 398 yds
#57 Texas A&M - 38 pts, 376 yds

29 PPG, 399 YPG

However, they were clearly better than last year. Last year they were embarrassing. This year they were just somewhat average.

Basically, yeah.

I'm a little concerned with the tackling, but considering the holes at tackle and in the secondary, it's hard not to see that Baker has us heading in the right direction.

Davis and Peoples deserve pay raises, Davis especially, for what they did for the line this year.

Raymond is getting corner back where it needs to be, but we only had 1 good corner this year.

They definitely got better.

Lost by 14 to Alabama on the road in 2023.

Only lost by 29 at home in 2024.

It was clearly a better run operation this year. Guys seemed to know what they were supposed to be doing and where to do it, and against certain offensives they were able to make some plays and do good things. They just didn't have the bodies at all 3 levels to compete with certain types of offenses.

I understand your confusion, as you are a fricking phaggot retard, but this is about the entire season as a whole, not just 1 game.

Yeah.

A patchwork defensive line and G5 secondary will do that to a team.

To be fair, it would have been more impressive if you had gotten worse considering how low you finished last year.

Jayden Daniels effect. He helped the offense overcome alot of those defensive flaws. I would like to have seen this year's defense with last year's offense. That said, OP's point about defensive improvement holds water.

Wow. Baker got worse at LSU. Was not expecting that.
