I agree we would have freaked out that night, instead of the next day.

But then he wouldn't have anything to apologize for, and objectively he would be in a better place.

There would have been no way to make Aggies happy.

You conveniently left out the part about his new boss who broke previous promises and lost his trust. Alberts soured him on A&M big-time.

Huh? Trev Alberts has been on staff for 3 months. What promises were broken?

His new salary was being negotiated (and he knew that), and new $80M stadium renovations were just announced.

The PoS is a terrible human being. The evidence is there that he was recruiting for Texas from our recruits, portal players, and the existing team. Complete slimeball of an individual. He also checked out after April, and for part of the CWS the players kind of coached themselves

Also, our players wanted numerous times to meet with him yet he would send a proxy if he wanted them, or not bother to respond at all. He's quite simply a PoS. He and Texas deserve one another.

Except for the fact that more evidence is coming in that his coming from TCU was a "John Sharp Special" (Hire a coach whose current employer is about to fire him anyway for off the field issues)

He had you in game 3 of the CWS final only days ago

He’s a good baseball coach

Staff cuts were made without him being consulted and some of the $80 million was being walked back as part of overall cost cutting measures, again with no input. It was enough for Alberts to quickly lose his trust & open the door for CDC.

That’s why I keep saying Alberts going to have to change his approach or he’s going to cause a lot more damage.

Honestly this seems accurate. But the rest is just you coping. I don’t blame you, fwiw. Brutal.

Trev was literally brought on staff as a finance guy to make budget cuts and to focus on the changing landscape of things due to NIL. This was widely known and expected. JS was on the flipping search committee and definitely knew this. It wasn’t a surprise.

The $80M tag has actually gone up (most are now saying $100M) not been cut. I’m not quite sure where you’re getting your talking points. If JS said all of that in his PC (I didn’t watch), then it’s more of his weak attempt at deflection, similarly to randomly bringing up Braden Montgomery in the now infamous CWS PC.

It wasn’t “staff cuts” that irritated him.
He didn't get his pick for an AD and wasn’t happy with the hire that was ultimately made.

Facilities? The BOR could cut in half the amount they just approved, and the resulting number would still be an obscene $amount to drop on what is already a fantastic ballpark.
Folks are questioning whether he ever GAF about facilities renovations at all (notice the topic wasn’t even hinted at during his UTex presser).

This wasn’t about Trev Alberts.
He’s a competitive AD who—to this point—hasn’t messed up.
This was 100% a decision JS made long time ago, and nothing was going to change his mind.

Good riddance. And I mean that literally, not in the snarky, overused way it’s so often thrown about.

I get it. Guys hired to slash/balance budgets aren’t going to be popular. But, this wasn’t a decision between Texas or A&M. It was much more a work with/answer to CDC or Alberts type deal.

He left for another position after the season was over. Simple as that. Hundreds of coaches have done it before him

he took a job for a rival school before a tournament run with a top 5 team.

He then shite all over a reporter for asking him about it about 24 hours before it was announced.

A reporter asked him a question related to rumors and he exploded on the guy...

And then was out the door the very next day. Not months later, or even weeks later... within 24 fuciking hours.

So yeah, he's a douchebag. A dude was doing his job and this guy jumped on him for, what? Being correct?

Don’t use Aggies recruiting budget to steer players to Texas because that’s exactly what he is doing. Low down, dirty and sleazy

Word is that the A&M brass already knew about the deal weeks ago but apparently wanted him to finish the season (or maybe thought they could change his mind). The guy who posed the question at the post-game presser was not a traditional reporter - he works for Texags, a sports message board, and he already knew the answer to the question that he asked (as did the entire Texags staff, from what I understand). The question was intended to embarrass Schloss by making him reveal his plans at the worst possible time for him and his players (after just losing the championship series).
TSRH ^^
The Texaggy.com staff kept quiet about it because they thought Trev could get him to change his mind, that's the only reason. Schloss definitely could have handled the question better, but the Texaggy reporter asking already knew the answer.

I'm not giving Schloss a break but if their goal was embarrassing him. It seems Schloss read that question correctly and belittled the reporter. Sure he looks like a real jackass in doing so but can't provoke someone and expect a straight face.

I agree for the most part, but it was literally less than 30 minutes after losing a national title. I don't know many coaches who are in the right mindset after such a thing...and add on the fact he knew the reporter asking the question already knew the answer and he was aware of that.

Honestly, after watching the press conference I suspected even more that he was leaving as he had the perfect opportunity to put the rumors to bed and he didn't.

This is exactly how I read it too. Posts on TexAgs were celebrating that Schloss "is staying and was offended by the question being asked", but uh, he didn't actually answer the question.

Agreed. Ags have every right to be pissed. Double pissed, because they lost a title, too.

But I read Schloss’ response as knowing the Aggie pathos and knowing that they wanted to detonate a bomb of chaos and self loathing in a moment he just wanted to finish an emotional night with his team. I get that.

And if they want to call him the slimiest liar of all time, okay. Let’s allow it. But in all fairness, when they are done with his carcass, let’s then focus all that same hate on the SECOND slimiest liar that has ever existed in college sports by that same measure….

Second slimiest liar in all of college sports if we are being fair:

It's because of 1939. They thought their embarrassing, pitiful drought was over, fell flat per usual and then one day later had their baseball program gutted like a fish by their most hated enemy who’s about to enter their precious conference against their will. Apoplectic, unhinged, perennial losers. They’ve absolutely lost their shite.
