No one has said he wouldn’t.

A lot of people, including me, has called him out for being a narcissistic piece of shite, a complete asshat and a person lacking character.

But no one has said he wasn’t a winner.

To be fair, this is the vast majority of successful football coaches.

Some just hide it better than others.

No doubt. Going 10-2 some years is probably going to get LSU some playoff spots. Probably 3 out of 5 years is what he is looking at. He might win one of those years. He has 50-50 odds on getting one within 6 years.

It's the same environment.

It is not the same environment. NIL, Portal, revenue sharing going to players....Coaches want to go somewhere where the NIL and boosters can support recruiting. They can no longer rely on the bag man to lure recruits.

So they want to go to the same schools they always wanted to go to.

Ok, yes I can see how it's different now.

I wish I had that confidence but I think it's going to take a couple of seasons before things really get going for LSU.

Lane has figured out modern college football.

At LSU he will be able to get top coordinators.

He just took a D2 QB and installed him after his starter got hurt and Ole Miss got better.

We all know its true. I hate it, but its the facts.

Maybe we will get a game of the century again soon.

I was sad Bama wasn't a permanent. I wanted Bama more than any other team.

Don't take this the wrong way. You would be an upgrade over BK.

They can be after him all they want, but he would be a fool to leave where he is currently.

Just like with BK. (I do acknowledge Lane coaches circles around Kelly).

Confession: none of us were actually excited for BK. We defended the hire, but it was just that — defense. 100% the fanbase trying to talk itself into that one and maintain a strong front. But it was always a weird hire.

Also gave us embarrassing, emasculating PR almost immediately.

This one feels different, like we actually got the guy everyone here wanted to get before the search officially started.

We’ll see how it all plays out, but like you said easily an upgrade from the last guy at the very least.

Yes, because nothing has happened since then to show that Lane has grown as a coach.

Based on events this week, this is a true statement.
