How the frick do we get #1 overall recruit in nation with last name manning and he looks like he cant throw for shite,

Am I the only person who watched his high school games with a critical eye? Did no one else see this coming?

It was insulting that he had the best odds to win the Heisman preseason

He was only rated the #1 recruit because of his last name.

It's called fools gold.

Hell I’m still seeing “analysts” saying he’s the #1 QB draft pick this year. We’re being completely gaslit in the name of driving viewership

I think Arch is gonna be good. Aren’t defending Super Bowl champions undefeated in the season opener over the last like 30 years? And college is an even louder environment.

That was a tall task. I don’t know if Sark will get better or call stupid passes on first and goal in big games again. But I have zero doubt Arch will improve. And work hard to do so. It’s literally in his DNA.

I'll take this under advisement. What has he learned the last three years? The signs are not good for this one.

This is his 3rd year in the same system with the same coach, he is a junior that has played in 7 games and started 2

The moment was too big for Arch. He’ll get better but we’re still looking at a guy that couldn’t beat out Quinn Ewers.

Hard to 100% say right now. Texas except at QB is as good as anyone in the country so he will have some big games. I just have a feeling he doesn't have the "it" factor to carry a team on his shoulders like the top QBs do. Could be wrong but I think when he comes to the Swamp if TX did win the game it won't be because of him carrying the team and it would be because TX just beat us overall with him just not handing the game away. I think Lagway or some others on TX would be very hard to beat for other top teams unlike with Arch.

Because the culture at Texas drives Texas. It’s a culture of believing you are the best despite results. It’s a culture that believes you will succeed because of your name. It’s the same belief system the drove you to be awed by a famous name. Because it would make you look good and let you peacock.

Until you had the reality happen and he had to play. Now the name doesn’t mean anything, all that matters is what you do.

And yes, A&M hasn’t done anything either. The difference is we truly know we haven’t arrived and are nowhere close to elite.

Yall believe you’ll win a national title with Manning. Which is delusional.

Texas also only returns one starter on offense.

Not a good idea to judge him on his first year as a starter

It wasn't realistic to think he would look like Joe Montana on the road in Columbus against a very talented defense in his first road start. However, what we saw was really bad. Consistently throwing passes into the ground or behind wide open receivers. Often, his feet were never set. It was much worse than the worst case scenario I imagined before the game.

Saw something with Orlovsky on ESpN on how Patricia was disguising coverages. Was a really nice breakdown of a few plays showing why Manning looked so confused. Said it was really Sark that was getting exposed more than Arch. The inaccuracy rate is still pretty concerning, though.

This is lightyears away from the reality in which most aggie fans live.

Thing is, the Manning Legacy was just Archie at that time. Not quite the same amount of expectations. Peyton and Eli made the Legacy larger and now ppl have larger expectations.

Just have to wait and see. Overreact every week is what football fans do.

A few other 3rd year players first starts as the real starter

Joe Burrow vs Miami 11-24 140 yards 0 TD 0 INT 4 carries 14 yards

Matt Leinart @ Auburn 17-30 192 yards 1 TD 0 INT 2 carries -1 yards

Joe & LSU beat #8 Miami 33-17

Leinert and USC beat #6 Auburn 23-0

Arch and Texas lost to #3 Ohio State 14-7

Stats that do matter.

So one of my close friends is first cousins with Eli and Peyton. Z was told that DJ was the worst QB at Manning Academy this summer. Take that for what it’s worth.

Wait until the RRS before saying dumb shite like that. The level of competition actually matters.

I think the issue is more about the buildup, by media puppets, of him as the frontrunner for the Heisman and next coming of the football Jesus based on nothing more than his name. Of course, that's not his fault.

He didn't play any worse than your average first time starter against a top 5 team. Problem is, he didn't play any better than average either.

Good news for him, though, is neither of the other "top Heisman candidates" exactly stood above and beyond average either in the first week. Only time will tell whether he's boom or bust. That's why it's stupid and nothing more than click bait to have preseason polls, watch lists, etc.
