I think that is the hardest job. You have to work harder than an Armenian rug haggler just to get the party in place and control the costs. You have to be creative enough that your themes are the talk of campus. You have to work during the whole party to fix all the issues (and there are many) so you only get to have fun as the party is winding down. After it is done you have to write up contacts, expenses, and success points for the file for the SC that follows you. We wound up having the best parties at about 1/3 the costs (so we had more of them) but the treasurer would freak out until the final numbers came in and I was always under budget. Some good times tho and some very good stories.
Old GF's love when I was SC but found out about all the work behind the scenes so we did not get time together during the events. Not many were really happy about this except it made me the most connected person on campus. Sorority SC's seemed to have a much easier job. Kudos to them for hooking me up with their sisters.

You left out the part about being the first or second guy sued if someone gets hurt at a party.
Still preferred the position to Treasurer

Maybe it's because I got off work early and I'm already 1.5 drinks in, but I have no shame admitting I'd love to smash chunky thigh girl. Not marry, just smash

A) Sororities did not serve booze
B) We made the news and it was not in a totally negative light like the Vols but not exactly positive either.
Some say we were the original Animal House and well known to administration and local law enforcement. We were usually pushing the boundaries but stopped just short of getting shut down for good. College is where I learned if you could make the cops laugh your arse was not going to jail. I am fairly certain tho that 98% of what we got away with would get us jail time now.
As for not getting sued, we were really good at policing our own parties and events to stop most of the terrible stuff before it happened. Other big help was most everybody (greek and non greek) partied with us and we had a good rep for getting along.

Enjoy your Friday drinks.
