AI Overview
The top, "super" krewes of New Orleans Mardi Gras, renowned for their massive parades and spectacular floats, are Endymion, Bacchus, and Orpheus, often joined by Rex, Muses, and Zulu. These organizations define the carnival season with high-profile celebrity monarchs, elaborate themes, and exclusive, sought-after throws during the weekend before Mardi Gras.
Top "Super" Krewes (Largest Parades)
Endymion: Known as one of the largest, featuring over 3,200 riders and 37 super-floats.
Bacchus: A major Sunday night parade famous for its elaborate, fun, and celebrity-led festivities.
Orpheus: Founded by Harry Connick, Jr., this super-krewe is a staple of Lundi Gras (Monday).
Historic & Prestigious Krewes
Rex: The "King of Carnival," this traditional, prestigious krewe defines the official Mardi Gras colors and rolls on Mardi Gras Day.
Zulu: A historic African American krewe famous for its Mardi Gras day parade and coveted hand-painted coconuts.
Comus: The oldest, traditional organization that hosts the final ball on Mardi Gras night.
Other Highly Popular Krewes
Muses: An all-female krewe known for its artistic, high-heel shoe throws on the Thursday before Mardi Gras.
Krewe d'Etat: Renowned for its satirical themes and creative, artistic floats.
Iris: The oldest all-female parading krewe.
Krewe du Vieux: Famous for its adult-themed, satirical, and hand-carried, raucous style in the French Quarter.
These top krewes generally parade along the St. Charles Avenue route in the days leading up to Fat Tuesday, with Endymion taking a unique route through Mid-City.
37 floats, geez!

There used to be a rope going across the street as you walked down. You passed the murders, the piss and crap on the streets, move the guy who needed a kidney and there was a rope thy normal people couldn’t go past. Wasn’t sure if it was still there. Kiffin will tell us ,

Sounds like you definitely hung out at the gay bars. You seem to be an expert. I have no idea what rope you are talking about.

Never went past it. All the drags were on the other side. Been years since I’ve been to Mardi Gras. Last time was 2019 when basically it was the hot spot for Covid. I think the first major city to get infected. Saw Alan Jackson on the stadium there

New Orleans, a big LSU town, Also not true
Stick to what you know, which is nothing about this matter. NOLA is in fact an LSU town outside of the small group of Tulane/Ole Miss old money uptown people and weird hipsters in the Bywater.

Yeah right a resident of New Orleans and Orleans parish doesnt know about New Orleans. Go back to Jeff Parish bud

Houston & New Orleans have the biggest numbers of LSU alums. This from the LSU Alumni arse. Numbers don't lie. Have not been to M.Gras for over 10 years but with over 30+ years of attendance, I've never seen any rope across Bourbon That makes absolutely no sense That wouldn't last 10 minutes.
