Who Is to say they weren’t waiting for a number from Florida first before negotiating the extension?
You're right, Ole Miss loves when other teams set the market on coaching salaries so they pay more

Nothing he says in a meeting like this should ever be considered as definitive.
During a coaching search, schools lie, potential hires lie, coaches who are never considered lie, everyone lies.
It is that way because it has to be that way. It is to everyone's advantage to lie. The Florida higher-ups probably already know whether they can get Kiffin or not. Allowing the rumors to continue helps someone either way, and that is why they continue.
Trust press conferences, not rumors.

I bet Coach O will be the defensive line coach for Lane

He wants to reassure the players he will be with them until the season ends.

Strange how this guy is always mentioned for just about every big time coaching change. However he never never won much of anything as a head coach except 2 championships in Conference USA.
The internet is full of idiots, like you.
Doesn’t Ole Miss have the 10th most wins in all of college football over the past 5 years? Kiffin did that at Ole Miss.
That win percentage is better than Texas, Texas A&M, Penn State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, LSU, Miami, USC.
What do you think Kiffin could do these days at most of those schools?

This has the pre - LR to LSU/USC vibe. LR had to have a meeting with OU team to settle them down regarding LSU rumor.

Will this be the fourth former Saban assistant had hired if this happens?

Sound and fury, signifying nothing.
