Gonna be hard to wave off an injury if you cause a stoppage in the game
Your hypothetical doesn't track because if a player is seriously injured it is unlikely he will be able to get back up immediately to continue anyway
You are not following this very well. It is a kid that IS NOT trying to cause a stoppage in the game. One who gets injured but doesn't want to be taken out the entire series.
Gets his bell wrung and is at the bottom of the pile for a few seconds. His teammates eventually help him up and he sees a bit of double for a second but no coaches or ref notice.
Does he take a knee and have the trainers come out knowing that taking that knee now means he will be out for the entire drive or does he say "nah it isn't that bad, I got this" and go back to the huddle hoping he is good.
The coaches and refs absolutely do not catch every concussion that occurs and any rule that might encourage a player to hide a concussion is going to have the NCAA running scared.

Les Miles did that for years at LSU.

This reminds me of how politicians complain that big companies "aren't paying their fair share of taxes" when they are following the tax laws and loopholes that the politicians put into the tax code... if you don't like it change the rules. Until the fake injury rules change people will continue to do this.

I think they should make the player stay off the field until a change of possession. It would cut down on it a lot
Yep

Yea LSU has ZERO room to talk about faking injuries. I used to have a buddy who I watched football with every Saturday and when the LSU game came on we would always bet on how many players would drop. The over usually always hit btw.

All teams do it to a degree but Ole Miss takes it to another level.

one year against bama there were three lsu lineman facedown on the field at the same time. all three laying the same direction.

ESPN will bank on ad revenue on that one.
“Welcome back to our viewers. They’ve cleared the field and we hope he’s ok. When they share what happened we’ll let you know.
Ole Miss now up to the line…Auburn lines up to defend.
OH! Looks like an Auburn defender just went down. Not sure what happened again but it had to have been a rifle shot the way he collapsed.
Back in a moment. Still 1st and 10 at the 25. 14:46 remaining in the first quarter.”

Just get to the sideline and the series isn’t lost. Call a timeout and the series isn’t lost. If it’s bad enough to go down, it’s realistically bad enough to assess him for the series.

Auburn players often get assassinated by a sniper.
There was a young man who went down suddenly Saturday.
This all goes back to Bert at Arkansas shooting one of our linebackers, the one and only Anthony Swain who still walk with a limp from the mortar round that hit him.

If you think so. I wouldn't hold your breath on a rule though. I'm just explaining what I have heard is one of the reasons the NCAA has not moved on the issue at all even though it has been an obvious problem for years.
